Good product but not really needed to switch on light etc
A great little gismo that could easily make itself indispensable. However, apart from finding some obscure music tracks it was not essential to have.
From, a small speaker the sound was acceptable when playing music or when communicating with you.
Incidentally, when the device was in standby, it often took a long time to respond and frequently required a reboot.
It could turn off and on devices with suitable receivers, so can my phone so no real advantage there unless you enjoy talking to an innate device.
No doubt this device could prove useful but for a recipe I would use a Kindle, my phone or laptop.
Well made and with a charcoal colour it was in unobtrusive although it used a socket as it has no internal power supply and the wireless ability negated by the fact it required plugging into a power point. A slightly higher unit to accommodate a rechargeable battery would make it more mobile and only need recharging say at night; like a phone.
I would not recommend this product at present as outlined above. However, I feel certain it is a device many would find useful; although not essential.

Only an analogue connection
This is only worth buying if you can connect this to an amplifier or amplified speakers but is let down by only having an analogue connection. I connected this to my home theatre system but have been plagued with crackle from the left speaker. There is no crackle with a digital connection from the TV. So crackle could be from the analogue connection in the home theatre or the echo dot. I will investigate further and if it is the dot then it is going back. I will not buy another until Amazon bring the echo dot up to date and include a digital connection.Read full review...
