Timer for all seasons

A great timer, with the ability to have half-hourly ON or OFF, plus either ON or OFF constantly.

I bought it as a means to control my old gas boiler whose timer had stopped timing, so could have the boiler on constant but have the mains switched ON/OFF. It's an old boiler, with a few more years of life before replacement will be needed.

Easy to wire in with the instructions when you have appropriate qualifications as I do. Wired in with heat-proof wire suitable for boilers (bought separately). It's designed to take immersion heaters, so the very much lower current of my gas boiler isn't a problem.

Much better than the timer on the boiler as that only had ON/OFF ONCE/TWICE. Now I can get really sophisticated with 48 switching events possible on the dial.

There are other APT timers, but I preferred the look and functions of this one. I didn't fancy the faff of a digital timer having to reprogramme every few months, easy enough to just push/pull the tags to get the ON-OFF switching as required.Read full review

Quality of the product

This was a direct replacement for an older model, easy to fit and look's great.
The difference from the old model is the pins are pulled out to switch appliance on,which means it's less likely to be switched on if accidentally bumped ,it's also easier to see what pins are on. Simple to use. Read full review

Replacement for the older version - the casing became damaged on the one I had and when I asked my plumber he said this was the best and that digital ones were no better. Easy to use timer

What I appreciate about this style of timer is it's simplicity, you do not need to wast time decoding an obscurely written booklet of instructions . I have no need for a timer that programs for more than 24 hours on a continuum. It also features a manual on and off switch . Perfect!
