Still a great device despite it's age

I wanted a cheap iPod with Bluetooth to hold my whole CD library in the car, on the move and on an old but great sounding B&W Zeppelin iPod dock, without tying up my phone. This fits the bill perfectly - works with Bluetooth or high quality wired headphones, 64Gb of storage (enough for higher bit rate files), small, versatile, great sounding, good user interface, enough battery life left for portable use and at a price that wouldn't hurt if something happened to it. Great little portable music player

Although only a 3rd generation iPod Touch, and unable to be upgraded to the latest version of iOS, this works a treat, As a portable music player for use at home and when travelling it is hard to beat, and 64Gb is plenty space for all my music. The battery life is excellent. The range of apps is limited because of it uses an old version of iOS, so for example iPlayer and YouTube will not work. Light, sleek, smart gadget - far lighter than those dated cds.

64mb on a device the size of a credit card! OK, a slight exageration, but considering how many songs/videos/messages can fit onto this tiny device, it certainly is worth its weight in gold. I purchased this at ridiously low price as I wasn't willing to pay over £300 for it. However, I can see why it does cost that much new.
As this is the 3rd generation it doesn't have a camera. So what? I have a phone that can do that and a camera that can do that. I really wasn't fussed about having an mp3 player that could do it too. Although this is more like a multi media device than just an MP3 player. I wanted something that could store all of my music in one convenient place, without having to lug piles of cds around with me. And this has it.
The battery life is not great. Needs recharging daily, and I don't play it that much (ie not all day long).
The ability to message to other iphones for free is good if you're stuck with no phone battery. But you'd need to ask all your friends who has an i-phone.
Compared to the iphone, this is a lot slimmer and sleeker. It feels smaller, lighter and does almost everything that the iphone does. Almost everything!
I have an iphone and this. I wanted to be able to make calls whilst listening to music, and not have to be stuck with HAVING to upgrade to an iphone whn my contract comes to an end. Having said that, I resisted the urge to purchase anything apple for so long, but now that I have, I'm an i-convert!

lightweight and easy to use

This is a great piece of kit. Very easy to use. simply switch on, follow the prompts and off you go.
The sound quality is very good.
I primarily use the device for plying music and listening to audio books.
The amount of stuff i can store on it is amazing.
I would highly recommend this iPod.

I was looking for a new iPod but didn't wanna pay too much so I went for a slightly older 3rd gen model.
I have nearly 4000 songs on it so far & it could easily fit twice that amount.
The apps are fantastic & I mainly use time wasting ones like Angry Birds whilst travelling to & from work on the train. Wi-fi works great.
