My Assessment

The earbuds sound quality suck and they are not the same as the ones I have from purchasing ipods in the past from Best Buy. Also the previous ones had instructions enclosed and a cradle. This one did not. The ear buds were in the space cut out for the cradle. It makes me wonder is this the original packaged ipod. So far, it seem to be functioning properly. I don't know about the battery life because I haven't used it long enough. Also on my previous purchases from Best Buy years ago, they had a bar code with the serial number on it. This did not. It just makes me wonder. But like I said, so far, it seems to be functioning properly.Read full review...

The iPod Classic is truly a classic!

Apple should never have discontinued the iPod Classic. If all you care about is music, as I do, then the iPod Classic
is the only way to go as far as iPods are concerned. It holds an amazing 160g of music. And though it has been discontinued, there are still brand new ones available on eBay.

Great Ipod, decent value!

Overall the Ipod Video (classic) has always been my choice for it's high capacity. My qualm is that it is still hard drive based for memory. I wish it utilized flash technology for storage. Battery life fairs well, I have my backlight set to around 30% and set to turn off after 3 seconds for conservation, and I get can days of use out of it. Just upgraded to this from my previous 80gb one, due to the need for more song storage. Overall, great ipod- would definitely recommend it!Read full review...

Ease of use and plenty of memory!

This is a wonderful product, bought used and arriving in good condition as stated. I'd not had anything like it's 160 GB, but using it I find it will satisfy all of my needs and function with ease. I use it for audio tasks and it gets to what I want and reproduces great sound for either music or spoken material. The classic model, with large memory, so far has 20+ Audible books, 200+ more hours of podcast, and 200+ songs and has barely begun storing. It is easy to use with earbuds and a car aux. on trips. And it is worth the cost to not carry several 2,4,or 8 GB products with weird instructions to deal with and remember which has the content that I want.Read full review...

Good overall but lacks in the shuffle mode ability of randomness!

No major complaints except with the shuffle feature. When using shuffle, there is no randomness with the feature. There is a very predictable pattern to the musical sequence. Even with over 20,000 loaded on the ipod and the shuffle mode enabled, it will always repeat the exact same pattern of songs. I have the original iPod classic but it's battery life is short and so I purchased a 7th generation model where the battery lasts 30 hours and can accommodate 11k songs! I loaded my favorite CDs (2k songs) and have been listening to it. This will come very handy during travels!Read full review...

the best ipod there is (thats not saying much but this is a good one)

the only reason i got this ipod was for the huge memory, i wanted all my music available in one place on one device. (and i still have 60 gigs to spare)
i am not a fan of apple products and this just confirms the reasons why. but the bottom line is this is a product that nobody else has so i couldnt go to the competition.
i have already had the screen freeze and couldnt reset it so i had to wait for the battery to die before i could play it. its difficult to search for songs while connected to my car. and sometimes when i try to search using the ipod when i fast scan through bands it works and other times it dosnt work until i am right before the band i want then it skips to the next letter. (if you never had an ipod its like looking for rem and when you get there it skips to santana) the battery life was good but i only use it in my car now so its a non factor for me. if you want a big memory this is the way to go, if you dont have 10000 songs in your library you might want to go for a different brand of mp3 player.Read full review...

If you have a ton of music and are a music lover, this is the ipod for you!

This ipod model is, in my opinion, the greatest ipod model there is. If you are a true music lover, such as myself, and have a ton of music in your music library, then this is the ipod that you need to have. I had a 60 GB ipod that I had completely filled and had to keep cycling music through. The storage on this model of ipod is so large, that even I would be hard pressed to fill it up! You can store more music on here then you would you know what to do with, and I obviously don't say that lightly!
