Armada: From the author of READY PLAYER ONE by Ernest Cline (Paperback, 2016)

A great read for sci-fi 80’s nerds

Although not as strong at “Ready Player One” this is still a brilliant read. I took it on holiday and couldn’t put it down. It is definitely more geeky than RP1 and you need to be more of a sci-fi nerd as it does go into some explanation about the space ships etc etc which could put a non nerd off.
The story is nothing original (it’s a father / son plot line (why does that always happen in space lol)) however it is well paced and the characters are wholly relatable and the descriptions of the places and buildings are believable.
My only gripe is that I did feel the story was a little bit twee with its ending. I won’t spoil the ending for anyone but sometimes baddies should be baddies and not turn over a new leaf.
That being said, I did like the book and would recommend it.Read full review
