Visually stunning, great story.
Great Movie. Visually stunning. Sadly, this classic movie has never been put onto disc.
I used to rent it digitally from the library but it has disappeared from there.
I just needed my own copy at this point.

A great and moving epic achievement
This film is a poignant statement of the relentless decimation of indigenous peoples at the hands of "civilized" exploiters, captured through the clash between the native South American rainforest denizens known as the Niaruna tribe and a mélange of white missionaries determined to convert them, and ruthless outsiders bent on frightening them off their land to exploit its resources. At the center of this is a powerful cast, with Tom Berenger as a renegade Native American originally hired by the exploiters to drive out the Niaruna, but who ends up joining them and attempting to serve as an intermediary between the natives and the missionaries - a move which proves disastrous to both parties when Berenger becomes involved with a beautiful missionary (Daryl Hannah). Berenger and Hannah are expertly joined by veteran actress Kathy Bates in one of her most (literally) revealing roles, John Lithgow and Aiden Quinn.
Shot with breathtaking grandeur on location in one of the most pristine areas of the world, APITFOTL should take its place on the playlist of anyone seeking a movie with substance, visual appeal, and enough dramatic impact to keep one glued to the screen with minimal breaks throughout its three-plus hour length.Read full review
