Audio Technica LP60/LP60X
Good entry level turntable, with option to use an amplifier for sound or a hifi system if you have an auxilary input on the hifi. Simple to use and with minimal assembly required.
Don't be put off by those audiophile snobs who claim that the LP60 will ruin records- It won't. The tracking force (the amount of force the stylus puts on the record) is preset at 3.5 grammes. The big record companies released a spec sheet for records back in the 1960's and the ideal maximum tracking force qouted was 5-6 grammes. The old large portable automatic record players from the 50's, 60's and 70's usually used to track at around 5-6 grammes and millions of records from those days survive in good condition. Some people will say that there is no "Anti skate" system for the tone arm- Yes there is but it's pre set. You are more likely to damage records by playing them with a damaged/worn stylus. Audio Technica suggest changing the stylus after 400-500 hours use
Some people will say that the speed fluctuates on LP60's, yes, sometimes it does but that is usually down to a stretched drive belt that starts to slip, which is a servicable part anyway- Both simple to change and cheap to buy. It can simply be changed in a minute.
The LP60 can trace it's roots back to the early 1990's, the mechanical workings have been in production at least 30 years, so the design must work otherwise people wouldn't buy them.
All in all, an excellent starter turntable but the lp60's with the X suffix are the ones to go for as there are one or two little tweeks.Read full review...

Very good turntable for the price
This turntable is very easy to use with the auto play feature and it produces a very good quality sound as well. For £100 it is excellent value for money.

Good quality at reasonable price
We bought this not expecting to much but we were very pleasantly surprised .Its really well made and the quality for the price was surprising.Really easy to set up. I first used a sounbar on it and this worked well , then i dug out some old technics speakers and it sounds amaz
ing . You can get a lot of players with built in speakers that make a nice ornament but the sound is awful .Its well
worth spending that xtra few quid to get the sound your vinyls deserve .Read full review...

Best turntable for 100 notes - by a mile.
Have been running this for about 3 months now.
Plain and simple you will not get a better turntable for the money. Avoid those horrible steepletones jam and ion.
Easy set up, built in pre amp etc etc.
Run mine through am old rotel amp. Sounds great.
Yeah there's better decks out there. Not in this price bracket and you'd probably be looking at 200 quid ish for a deck that's a marked improvement.

Not worth the money
The arm did not have a clip to secure it properly. The stylus was difficult to put on. On the instruction manual, it did not show how to change from a two pin plug to a three pin plug.

Excellent!
I toyed with the idea of a record player for ages, before deciding in this one. It was a good choice!
Paired with the edifier speakers I bought, the sound quality is superb! So happy with my purchaseRead full review...

A good turntable for the cost.
Does everything it claims, decent quality for the price and very happy with it. Only minor criticism is I would like to have seen a security clip over the operating arm to allow for safer moving of the deck, but a relatively minor quibble. Would recommend this item.Read full review...
