I use this mic on my kenwood TS-850s and reports from other hams are excellent. It has great audio range 60 - 15,000 Hz and clarity just by feeding it into the factory mic plug on the radio with an adapter. No Phantom power is needed for this microphone, and because of its unidirectional Cardioid audio pickup it doesn't hear noise from things in the room, like TV or radio / scanner playing at a medium low volume easily . The ATR-30 works very well in Amateur Radio applications. The audio is "full range" and easy to tailor to your needs by the onboard equalizer that most modern transceivers have built-in.
