Automan: the Complete Series (DVD)

If you like Tron? You'll LOVE "Automan"!

I was a huge Tron fan as a kid the special effects were cutting edge at the time and like nothing we had ever seen before.

So when Automan hit the small screen I was instantly hooked. Not only did it give us the world of Tron outside the computer, but (let's face it. Glen Larson cast someone who even looked like Tron) Tron is out in the real world fighting crime in a black Lamborghini that glows in the dark and turns into a helicopter at least once an episode.

Excellent casting once again by Glen Larson, who gave us Magnum, Battlestar, Buck Rogers and Knight Rider to name a few. The reported one million dollars per episode is readily visible even tho the scripts are a little dated and the titles a bit corny. Sadly, the show only lasted 14 episodes and was cut because of costs.

But all the episodes are here. I can finally toss the VHS tape I made of 9 episodes into the trash. Saying farewell to all the 80's commercials. But as a bonus, this disc has a 45 minute feature shot in 2012 with the three principle cast members and Glen. I actually learned a few things about the show and found it informative and amusing to see the cast members 30 years later.

All in all, having the complete series, the bonus disc with lots of extras and some extra space on the VHS shelf make this a good purchase for even a casual fan of the show.

I think this is where I'm supposed to write something geeky. But since I own a black Countach and have often considered striping it in reflective tape. I feel I am geeky enough.

Great old Sci-Fi series. Classic 80's.

Nice! I kinda sorta remember this one back "intheday" but kinda glad I don't because it's fun finding new hidden gems as they say. This just popped up somewhere and after looking into it I ordered it right away. Computers: check. 80's & computers: Check and check. Oh yea. I love all these old shows. This one is done actually really well I dig the characters and the stories even. The way the Automan has to learn how to "blend in" to this world. Actually good acting IMO, for an 80's sci-fi series for sure.

I dig it. If you're into the old shows. Stuff like Riptide or Whiz Kids or Manimal maybe some McGuyver...you know, all that cheesy goodness. I have no problem recommending.
