Super router for Plusnet upgrade

Bought to replace inferior Plusnet Hub One router which was constantly 'dropping off' the internet. The BT Smart Hub immediately feels like a superior product. I think that this unit was reconditioned but you would never have known that as it was packed and looked like a brand new product but at a fraction of the price. Another real plus were the comprehensive, well written instructions on how to set up the router to work with Plusnet broadband. I'm not sure if the router would work with other broadband suppliers but Plusnet is a less expensive offshoot of BT. Have now successfully logged all my household's laptops, phones, ipads, Smart TVs, security cameras etc. etc onto the BT router. Here's a tip ... I would have saved myself a lot of time doing this if I had just changed the name of the new router to the name of my Plusnet router and used the same password as before. All this is explained in the instructions. Oh, final thing, my broadband speeds are now constantly at the level they should be and do not drop in and out. Overall a great product if you want to upgrade your Plusnet router and an excellent supplier.Read full review...

OK & a good alternative to the Plusnet box

Bought as a backup for my Plusnet hub. It's OK just have to be careful with settings & follow the instructions in the Plusnet forums. It's a tad more convoluted than the Plusnet box (which is an earlier BT branded product).Read full review...

Wireless channel selection bad

I bought this to replace Plusnet hub which has a design fault as many will know. It has strong signal but not quite as stable as plusnet hub. The big disappointment for me is the fact you can only select one of three allowed wireless channels and these channels are the most crowded ones. If you live in a built up area there are many routers on the same frequency. Apart from that the router works well enough. Read full review...

Fixed Wireless Issues I had with Plusnet

I switched to Plusnet and wireless was terrible with their Home Hub 1 router. All over google people recommended getting a BT Home Hub 6 router. I did and I’ve gone into advanced settings and just changed BT username to Plusnet and my password. Pressed save and it connected. I’ve not had any issues since. No more buffering on everything. Plusnet need to invest in better router as they must get so many complaints. Read full review...

Excellent product

Firstly you would never know this is refurbished, looks brand new. Works perfectly. I bought this as a replacement for the Plusnet router, which is a home hub 1 and completely useless. Poor WiFi range and constantly drops off the broadband network. The Home hub 6 is vastly superior and very simple to configure for use with Plusnet, they are in fact BT after all. No more WiFi extender’s plugged into sockets all over the house and constant broadband with no dropouts. Oh and it looks a lot better than that stupid bright white box as well.Read full review...

Much better than the Plusnet hub.

Bought this as the Plusnet hub WiFi was really poor and was getting better 4G on the phone than fibre through the Plusnet router. Read some online reviews recommending this BT smart hub from eBay and they were bang on. Highly recommended.Read full review...

Replacement router for Plusnet ISP

Bought to replace standard Plusnet router as recommended by many. Very easy to set up and works well. Wireless connection to my phone and laptop seems much better and no buffering when streaming.

At last a good BT home/smart hub

Replaced a long serving Home Hub 5 that died without warning, considered an Asus Rt68 replacement but few of the reviews were positive. Modern routers are ugly black boxes with dramatic antennas which I didn't really want sat in the hallway.

These smart hubs look good and the smart hub contains the vdsl modem for both ADSL or infinity, so I was able to ditch the BT supplied vdsl modem as well.

Great performance across WiFi, I am able to reach the full 76mbit line speed across nearly all of the bungalow we live in.

£49 I paid for a new device was great, feature set is ok for general household use, be sure to split the 2.4 and 5ghz bands for the best performance, and of course this is a BT only router. If you have infinity or broadband from BT I'd definitely recommend purchasing the smart hub 6.

Performs well

Had previously purchased netgear products that were having problems with copper wires where they cant cope with the interference. Having spent a lot of money on the top of the range modem/routers I couldnt accept that BT could do better. On installing this modem/router everything changed and get no down time at all. The signal is pretty good and reaches most rooms, where it didnt put on extenders with no problem at all. Set up was very easy indeed using their app, needed no help at all. Would highly recommend this product if you get your internet via the old copper lines. The oerformance is also 25% better than netgear. This is not putting netgear down I just think technically they arent as good on the old lines. Horses for courses!Read full review...

Good but be carefull.

The router was very easy to set up and worked more or less straight out of the box. One problem I encountered was that after connecting the modem, my scanner wouldn't work because the modem had tried to link it as Wifi. The printer and scanner are one unit and are a wired connection to the PC. The only way to get the scanner to work was to reinstall the printer/scanner.
Make sure that you get the correct version of this modem as there are several variants, such as a business version, one which works with a modem and ones which work with fibre right to your house rather than the openreach green roadside boxes.
