A stepping stone.....on the way down.

Well...alas, but it is the WORST album that i have heard from this band so far, and only my penchant for 80's rock is what still gives them the benefit of the doubt.
However, this album is downright waste of money and time.

Same lovelorn-schoolgirl lyrics, which are performed by voice that for some reason sings OUT of it's natural tonality, and still accompanied by the guitar-abuse which sounds like a lazy
2nd-year student who is doing a favor by playing anything at all. On top of all that - the arrangements are the suddenly primitive and as simple as a bucket and a broom.
Plus, be warned: the album consists only of slow songs.
Sounds alot like Abba with some occasional distortion guitars,
except that Abba is better!

And the irony is- that this doesn't even sound like 80's power
anymore hahaha! It sounds like a musically weak 5-year old girl pseudo "rock" and otherwise pop: so there you go.

There is, however one spoon of honey to sweeten this otherwise very bland pile of sounds: one song, the title track
"Bad Animals" - this one is performed properly, with some great vocal drive and rock-becoming musical arrangement.
The song sounds excellent and it DOES NOT have those naive-little-girl lyrics. Woo-hoo. But, the soloing is still of a 2nd year lazy student.

Well, the bottom line is that i would only recommend it to those who want to buy 1 good song for the price of an album.
All others looking for some good female-fronted 80's rock: go to the band "Vixen", Joan Jett, Runaways/Blackhearts,
Pat Benatar and all the other proper rockers.

If you can just buy "Bad Animals" the single, - then this is
the best solution, cause that song is the only thing worth it.

Otherwise - filler material of the worst kind.

Fantastic 80s Heart.

A great album of their late 80s sound. I love the early 70s stuff too and they have always been great through their evolution in sound over the years. A must have for a Heart fan.

Bad Animals by Heart is one of my essential...must listen to music picks.

This music brings me back to my younger days. These specific songs are my favorite by Heart. The ballads are especially nice, making me think of that special someone. I used to own this before when it originally came out and decided when I heard one of the songs on a music site, I just had to own it again.Read full review...

Broken Jewel Case

The CD was of good quality but the Jewel Case was pretty well destroyed. Not a big deal but should have been cared for before shipping.
