Five stars definitely yes, but "amazing" as the five stars imply is the wrong word. This set sits along side all of my others and offers a fresh interpretation on these seminal works. No single artist has the monopoly on this repertoire. Brendel's mid to late 70's recordings are the ones I always seem to go back to but that is not intended as a criticism of this Barenboim offering.Read full review...

Great edition of the great composer

Beethovan Sonatas are some of the most satisfying music to play but all too often we find editions that have poor type and inapropriate fingerings used. This edition has neither of these flaws.
