Ben Hur, Better Now Than Ever

I thought is was "good" when I first saw it, 50 years ago—but now that I am 70, I can appreciate the story and the way it was presented much more.

After living this long, I believe that I can relate more fully to the themes of personal privilege, then loss and devastation, challenge and triumph, and renewal of faith, in a way that I was not able to when I was a teenager.

The personal conviction and commitment of the producers and the director, the actors, the film-score composer and everyone else who was involved enabled these themes to become real and to engage viewers in a life-changing way.

Ben-Hur is a classic.

Charlton Heston can't be beat for playing biblical and period specific characters such as Ben-Hur, Moses and so on. He brings life to the parts he plays in all his movies. As he said when he was still alive about the biblical movie sets: " those movies can't be replicated because just to build the sets, they are too expensive."

Good title

I'm so happy because I saw this movie when it was new. I loved it and I want the record so I did it was in large box included the record and the book showing different pictures and talked about making of the movie. I lost it along time ago. I was hoping the book would be part of a kit. A dvd and the book. I know that would had been costly. I was hoping that's all.
