A to B and back.

Great little satnav easy to use either address or postcode. It is small enough that it isn't obtrusive on your vision whilst driving. Although saying it's small the screen is large enough and the maps are easy to see. I can happily recommend to other buyers.

Dirt cheap, but a false economy

This Satnav failed to get GPS service even when placed outside, far from any buildings, trees or other obstructions, and in fine weather.

I found the placement of buttons on the touch-sensitive screen to be inconveniently close to the bezel surrounding the screen. Unless you have finger-tops like sharpened pencils they're not easy to use.

A screen size of 4.5" doesn't sounds too bad, but believe me a 5" screen feels much better.

GOOD FOR THE PRICE.

I needed an upgrade on my satnav but didn't want to spend a lot of money.

This seemed a good option.

Good points:

Cheap price.

Good maps.

Good size screen.

Easy to use (see bad points).

Bad points:

The sound can be a bit tinny, especially on alerts.

The touchscreen isn't as responsive as my old one and it takes a few finger stabbings to get it to work, there is a stylus that slides into the windscreen holder and this seems to work fine.

All together a nice satnav that does the job for the price.

Binatone U435 is it good or destined for the bin...

First off this is a cheaper satnav, so don't expect all the trimmings that some boast; you know, the usual dash cam, mp3 player, video and games. If you want all these gadgets as well as rely on your map route...just forget it, it isn't happening Bro.

Binatone has had a questionable build quality for...now let me see...since the 1970's at least; I can't go back any further as I was a wink of the Milkman's eye back then.
Straight out of the box you have everything you need to get this baby working. First off though, I know you guys hate manuals, but hey! listen to your wife/partner for in this case it is important. But just for you men you need to charge the unit up first using the USB cable and it takes from out of the box roughly 5 hours depending on your charging point. I used my phone charger (Check compatibility 1st) which did it faster than the old computer USB.
If you still don't like manuals, then to set up is easy, as Binatone has provided the software with such an easy interface that even a blind monk with no electronic history could do it...no really!
GPS is almost instant, though where I am the signal doesn't get through as I live in an older place. Go outside and it connects to your current location in about half a minute, though times may vary if you are in an out of the way location...like a dessert island, but then you'd have little use for this item apart from using it as part of your escape hand made raft.
Picture quality is clear, directions very precise and tone of Mary's voice is like the voice on Star Trek The Next Generation and far less temperamental; 'no warp core breach' or 'circuits destroyed' and my favourite...'unable to comply'...you get the picture.
Build quality is good; though some of these units like Binatone of old, fall apart if dropped or stop working after a while, (screen touch, battery and software issues have been noted), so could be better but then again price range is the key here and so far mine hasn't missed a beat. It has all the features you need for landmarks, petrol stations, eating places and yes can warn you speedies of camera alerts.
So at the end of the day, it gets 5 stars because as I said at the start it does what is says on the box and that's all I need and let's face it; you do too.

Very basic but it works

Good: Basic satnav with no frills. Use it as a replacement for a road atlas rather than expecting it to avoid traffic or give you the best route. The maps on it can be updated using NDrive for free. (Additional maps cost money). Doesn't upload your travel habits to Google (or whoever) to be sold to the highest bidder. Software doesn't crash while you're driving, just keeps plodding along nicely. Clear display.

Hmm: The NDrive software and the SatNav are old technology. It needs Windows Mobile software which works on Windows 7, but might not be available on 8 or 10. It's also fussy about the USB cable you use. I had to try 3 cables before I found one that works. It also needs a micro SD card with at least 2GB free before you can update the maps. When it is all working, it's very slow. It took hours to update the maps, but it did get there, and it does work. (Feb 2018 tried and working).

Bad: Pretty much useless for speed camera alerts. The speedcam database is patchy and when you do get a warning you are basically already at the camera. It does have "avoid this road" functionality, but please don't try and use it while you are driving. You really are far better off just taking a side road and driving until the satnav stops telling you to use the same traffic jammed route than trying to fiddle with it.

Probably the cheapest satnav you can get with genuine free map updates, (although getting all the software to work with the right USB cable might drive you nuts). Very basic, but functional and reliable.

Good sat nav

Decent satnav usual functionality, GPS signal very good and very accurate, the navigation routine is very good better than my old garmin.

Only down side I found is battery life isn't as good as I hoped (that's why I opted for the smaller screen unit) but still quite decent at 1.5hrs, and the touch screen doesn't feel as responsive as my old garmin but still functional when you get used to it.

All in all is a good sat nav for the price; haven't had a chance to test the map updates yet so cannot rate.

Easy to use small device

I bought this as didn't want to pay alot of money for something that would only be used occasionally. Easy to set up and looks easy to use. I've stated no on reliability purely because it has not set been used on a journey yet so can't comment.Read full review...

Great value

For such a budget price basic satnav this is a great little gadget. My dog ate my Tomtom (don't ask!) and didn't have the money to replace so opted for this as a stop gap but it's great so will keep using and not bother getting a more expensive one as this does all I need, gets me from A to B and alerts me when I am going over the speed limit.Read full review...

Good for price

Good satnav for the price does what it needs to do. A bit slow on giving directions. Satnav says 0.7mile to turning speakers says 1.0mile so slight delay but works well. Speed camera alerts work well and speed check on roads works great. No complaints from me :)Read full review...
