Mature tale of love and revolution
This is a book written by an author at her best. The book is set at the time of the French Revolution, but the theme of property and a ‘boom and bust’ economy is still relevant. The central marriage , circles around themes of desire, class, and a women’s voice in a male world. Add in murder, jealousy and death and you have a compelling book.Read full review...

Birdcage walk
Transports the reader competently to the period of the story. Characters are rounded and all have a story of their own A few surprises but a stark brutal yet fragile portrayal of life then but issues are so comparable with todayRead full review...
