Serial BlackBerry User...My Favorite of All

I have had 5 other BlackBerry's from the 7230 to the BlackBerry Storm. I love the flip the most. The size and flip action are great because I like to carry the phone in my pocket. (No more butt-dialing)
The Pearl track ball is superior to the BlackBerry touchscreen and the little black square, whatever that is, on the latest BlackBerry Curve (Which I have also used). I also like the fact that I don't have to do a soft reset 3 times a day (only once a week if that), like I had to do with the Storm.

Even though the Flip is a discontinued phone, I really like using it the most of all the BlackBerry's I have had.
Pros:
Small Size, Clamshell design, track ball, far more reliable
Cons:
No GPS, low Megapixel camera, smaller screen, Not full qwerty keyboard (but easy to get used to, better software than the old BlackBerry Pearl)

RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8100

I bought this phone because my friend has one and loves it. So when my phone broke down in the middle of my contract I decided to get one off ebay. It's a great buy! The phone is the perfect size and weight. it's nice and light and fits in my pocket without being too bulky. I love the conversation style text messaging and the trackball navigation. it's much more responsive than the touch screen navigation on the new blackberrys if you ask me. Easy to use. Highly recommended!Read full review...

Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 (T-Mobile)

I have owned the Blackberry Pearl flip in the past and have always had some kind of reception problem or problems with the RIM wireless software. As a messaging phone, it is the greatest! But because of the poor, and rather tiny screen, web browsing is quite a pain. As far as smart phones go, I would not recommend people to pay for a data plan, for this phone, if the only thing you can do is send and receive email. Also connecting to wireless networks, then getting the browser to use that connection is a real pain. Blackberry needs to overhaul their RIM software and make a phone with a larger screen to make web browsing more enjoyable too. The pearl Flip makes O.K. phone calls, but makes for a very poor smart phone. At least for the money you need to invest for a data plan.Read full review...

a hip blackberry

The fact that this blackberry is a flip make it hip.Its easy to use, have most of the features others blackberry phones do (web browser, camera...). But it doesn't have that qwerty keyboard blackberry is known for so it might be a little difficult with this than other blackberry phones.Read full review...

RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220-DO NOT BUY

For the age of smart phones, this one has only one positive side: it flips and positively ends the call hiding buttons on the inside of the shell; display is bright and crisp for numbers and letters.<br>As it comes to the performance: dialing is a bear, it takes a loooong time to find your contact especially if you sync with outlook-it creates multiple entries, display does not show the person’s number until contact is chosen, Wi-Fi is restricted to blackberry paid service use (unlike HTC where you can browse internet on your home Wi-Fi without extra charges).
My prior phone was HTC Dash and I feel blackberry 8220 is a huge step down for me in performance, speed of use, available features and overall usability.
I would not recommend buying this devise.

BLACKBERRY PEARL 8100 (T-MOBILE

This is a nice little phone, packed with features. For those that want to be able to do "real" internet surfing with their phone, it proves QUITE useful. You will need a data plan, but with that, you can add different applications that extend the functionality of the phone immensely. Anything form Social networking sites like Facebook, Yahoo, AOL, & other Instant Messaging programs can be downloaded for free. And there are MANY other programs you can download and use for free, which is one of the things I LOVE about the usefulness of this phone. You can take pictures with the camera, and save then to an SD card added to the phone. And even save music to the SD card, to listen to music.
All in all, a VERY nice phone. There are 2 issues surfacing with the Blackberry phones though:sometimes the trackballs start working erratically, but a quick shot or two of "dust remover" in a can cures that problem for quite awhile. Or the trackball can be replaced fairly easily, with instructions found through a search engine such as google.
The 2nd problem I have just rea;ized with these phones is the mini-USB port seems to be prone to trouble on some of these phones. But if you get a charging cradle or an external battery charger (both which can be inexpensively found on Ebay), that will not be as much of an issue.

Excellent Phone, Great Bang for the Buck

Pros: Nice keyboard good click response, using trackball to navigate is easy, nice screen, small and can fit in any pocket, camera w/ Flash, SureType (great for fast texters!)802.11b works great and other generous little features.

Cons: Speaker and microphone could be a tad louder, battery case is fragile a case for the phone is recommended, somewhat short battery life.

Other than that, this is a great solid phone for those looking to buy an inexpensive starter business phone. With built in wi-fi, dual-band GSM, and a bunch of other neat little features this phone delivers exceptional performance for the price.

love it!

I had one that just didn't work well at all but since I still had time left on my contract I thought I'd get another one since I'd gotten used to it. This one works great (so far!) and I'm loving it. I can get my email, have my contact list in one place, take photos, get google maps, and browse the internet if I have to (those last two don't really work as fast as other phones do but in a pinch it's fine)... all the basics but not like the fancier newer ones...which is fine with me! After going 2 months without an internet phone (after my first one broke I found an old phone to use for calls only), I'm delighted to have this back again and it's working fine!Read full review...

A great BlackBerry for the price!

I love this phone! Its the smallest BlackBerry of all current BlackBerry phones. Battery life is great, lasts a few days for me. Also the battery charges really fast, I think around 1-2 hours to charge it fully! Also phone is very light and fit comfortably in my pant pocket. One thing I didn't like so much was the quality of the pics the camera takes... All in all, a really good phone for the price!Read full review...
