Excellent for Arthritis but poor service from Bosch

A friend bought a pair of these for my wife some three years ago as she has hand problems and normal secateurs were too difficult to use. They did an excellent job and made light work of tough plants. Unfortunately they stopped working not because of the battery which is as good as ever but because the cord inside which provides the extra power broke. I tried the Bosch service email several times but got no reply at all. Very poor customer care from what should be a respectable brand. So in the end we had to buy another one. Overall a good piece of kit let down by a very poor service team. If you do buy one and it stops working don't bother to contact Bosch.Read full review...

Not as good as it says on the tin

This one does not wirk as well as the one which was demonstrated by Bosch. It does not hold charge between uses even if only 24 hours apart. For the first use thought it was faulty, it is sluggish.

Purchased as I suffer from CTS & RSI and it helps, but the charging problem is a pain.

Lightweight and ladies can use.

Does the trick. Not too heavy for a lady in mid 60's. Weight was essential when I was looking to buy a set. Also just OK for handspan but I have quite small hands. Keeps the charge long enough for me cutting willow etc. It has sofar not run out of battery power. I also like the 3 settings for different assist to kick in. Would def buy again.Read full review...

Heavy but useful

The pruners are bigger and heavier than I expected but are easy to use. The size of them means you can't just slip them into a back pocket between uses. The motor means I can cut slightly larger branches without aggravating the arthritis in my hands. Read full review...

Useful addition to garden tools but only if you have larger hands

Works well on semi-ripe cuttings up to 25mm thick but can struggle with hardwood. A bit too large for the average female hand size especially if you have arthritis. I wear a size 9 glove and holding the secateurs directly over the spring my hand is at full stretch. A lot lighter than I expected and after two hours steady pruning I had none of my usual aches in wrist or thumb. The charging socket is covered by the red switch while in operation but isn't a waterproof seal so you couldn't use these in the rain or drop them in a puddle. There is a sliding power adjustment on the handle which I find needs to be left on full otherwise the power assist does not kick in on semi-ripe cuttings. I've used them on roses, beech, sycamore, chestnut, privet, ash, elm, hawthorn, laurel, holly and brambles. The powered cut is slow but clean and doesn't chew the bark up against the anvil. The battery life on full is good, after 2 solid hours of work it was just starting to struggle to cut. Initial charge took around 3 1/2 hours, recharges take less. They won't replace my Felco 8 secateurs but at the discounted price I paid definitely a welcome addition to my garden tools.Read full review...

disappointed

I have got strong hands and have been a professional Pruner . My hands are not small (average to large for a woman ) and I find the secateurs very bulky , heavy and slippery ! As far as quality is concerned ,having used them for a couple of hours on smallish branches , holding them in both hands because of the weight , I noticed that the blade is nicked : very sad and not sure I can return them but would like toRead full review...

Fine for ASSISTING the user when needed rather than continual operation.

This item ASSISTS the user rather than 'kicks in' all the time so is only activated when needed. This prolongs battery life but if you have problems with your hands this might not be for you. It is less bulky than other models that work all the time but needs the bulk for larger batteries for the continual heft required.Read full review...

No more struggling wity thicker stems to cut.

This has all the qualities you expect from Bosch. The response is delicate and very effective - no hard pressing on the handles to effect a clean and easy cut of quite thick wooden growth. Practice needed to get to know how it handles for each user.

A real pleasure to own.
