Luscious, thick, analog chorus

This is my favorite chorus pedal. It rivals the Boss CE-2 that I also have. The CMC-1 provides luscious, thick, analog chorus sounds. You can also get weird if you twist the knobs to their extremes. The unwieldy size, 3.5mm power jack, and the jacks going out the back instead of the sides are the only drawbacks.Read full review...

Just as beautiful as it sounds!

I first bought the Zakk Wylde chorus which was good, but this Boss pedal kills it! My favorite part of this pedal is that there is so many options in finding your exact sound. It has a nice bright sound while maintaining a well-rounded low and mid. It does not at all take away from your sound, even when your sound is heavily distorted.

I am playing through a Epiphone Custom Signature Bjorn Gelotte Les Paul with active 81/85 EMG's Zakk Wylde Crybaby Wah Boss Metal Core ML-2 Boss Distortion DS-1 Boss Chorus Ensemble CE-5 MXR Phase 90 MXR Carbon Copy Delay TC Electronic Hall of Fame Reverb MXR EVH Flanger MXR Dyna Comp TC Electronic Ditto Looper TC Electronic polytune 2 Marshall DSL40CR.

This pedal fits my gear perfectly, no criticisms.

*The picture is without a few of the pedals currently in my chain, but the chorus is there.

Back to the past.

I use to have a CE-5 before going through two different amps with built in effects. Of course I sold my original CE-5 rather than holing on to it so I had to buy another one after getting rid of both amps with digital effects. Now I have a Fender Deluxe Reverb and I'm back to using pedals with my CE-5 as a permanent fixture along with my Boss Blues Driver and MXR Carbon Copy.Read full review...

All in all this pedal adds a lot of analog warm and character to my synths.

I've been looking for quite some time to add to my analog synths an analog chorus. Been looking for something warm, analog and subtle and this pedal just fullfilled all my expectations. It has dual outputs, dry and wet not stereo. A 2 band eq which comes very handy in particular situations when I want to emphazise the bass sound without distorting the upper frequenqies. The E. Lvel allows you to select the desired amount of effect. Depth allows you to increase the chorus applied to the signal, somewhat between 11' oclock and 14' oclock seems to produce the best results. And finally the rate in which you can dial the lfo frequency. I usually enjoy slow rates between 9 o'clock and 12 o'clock.
It has a sturdy construction. The only drawback unlike ehx pedals is that it must be connected to some dc source eventhough you're bypassing it. If not you won't get any sound passing thru.

All in all this pedal adds a lot of analog warm and character to my analog synths. I has even the hability to make my Moog Prodigy sound like it has PWM built into it.

High Quality Chorus, Recording Ready Pedal

It can be a small add-on to your sound and it can be an amazing full out attack psychodelic chorus, I really like the highs and lows selection this Pedal offers, this is the best feature for me..

Perfect 80s Alternative sound

I was looking for a chorus pedal with a similar sound to 80s bands like The Cocteau Twins and The Cure. Wow, the Boss CE-5 is just what I needed!
It has a really transparent sound, a lush ethereal shimmer. It’s a lot more subtle than many chorus pedals, and that’s just what I like. It’s one of those pedals you might forget it’s on until you turn it off. But why bother turning it off, I pretty much leave it on all the time. It sounds divine with delay and reverb pedals and adds another dimension to fuzz pedals. The stereo out is really nice. One output is dry, and the other effected. I wasn’t sure how that would sound before I got the pedal, but believe me; the sound from a split stereo cab or two amps is amazing! It basically causes the wet and dry signals to blend out in the room, rather than mix them together and run through one speaker like most chorus effects. It makes a huge 3d kind of sound that must be heard to be believed.
The Boss CE-5 nails that 80s alternative sound. I’m never getting rid of this pedal.

Great chorus...

It's easy to see why Eddie Van Halen and several others use this chorus. Beautiful on clean tones, and it is noticeably able to cut through dirt as well. Highly recommended...

The best Chorus pedal. Finally

I’ve tried so many chorus pedals.... like a lot, looking for a certain chorus tone, and this thing has it. It’s so lush & doesn’t drop ur signal down like most other chorus pedals. It’s more melodic, most other chorus pedals sound like phasers to me but this one just add a beautiful lush backdrop to what your playing. And at a high rate can get pretty funky. It’s simple (like all boss pedal whys they’re usually awesome). But seriously the sounds is PERFECTRead full review...

Great pedal for the money - well worth every penny, dime and nickel spent.

Boss stuff for the most part is always on the good side of reviews. This is no different. This pedal can go from very subtle to over the top. I have a DOD FX64 chorus that I really like, but the Boss is smoother and more subtle in the overall chorus effect. I highly recommend this pedal to anyone who is looking chorus. It is an eExcellent value, especially when you can find them at a good price used, which I did. I am sure there are more "boutique" pedals out there, but for the typical player this pedal is hard to beat.Read full review...

The Perfect Chorus

I prefer the sound of the Boss CE-5 over the CH-1. The CH-1 is just a bit too subtle, especially when you want a deep swirly clean. The CE-5 can does it well. Along with the hi/lo cut filter, it's perfect. In general, Boss pedals are the most practical of effects pedals, due to the reasonable size and the fact that it's easy to stomp/switch during a high energy live show. I've always had issues trying to aim for the small DPDT switches that many of the new boutique pedals use. Otherwise I'd still be using the MXR M-134 Chorus.Read full review...
