Old model holds more water !
We have the previous version of this called the "one cup" it does that and you can alter the size of cup and ha s big volume capacity . This Breville has much less volume capacity 3 1/3 big mugs really and it is much more difficult to fill ...Hence 3 stars ....I suspect trying to streamline it cut down the volume considerably . It is also very noisy compared with older model ...dont know why ? you can only control water flow by switching off on top ... otherwise you get their full cup programmed !Use a big mug to start !!!Read full review...

It saves electricity by only boiling the cupful in the bottom and not the whole kettle. Downside is that you can't transport it like you can a kettle if you need to use a kettle full of hot water for another purpose, and you relly need a large mug and not a medium cupRead full review...

Very fast and very cheep to run and we would definitely recommend to anyone.
After our kettle decided to leek all over the place we went on line to buy another. We were very interested in the Breville VKJ142 one cup fast boil Dispenser kettle.As a fairly new fast boil concept, we were uncertain as to suitability for us. Well no worry, it does just what it says. It is very fast producing a mug (standard size) of steaming tea/coffee in seconds.With a steam discharge noise to tell you your brew is ready. Obviously, as it is only heating the one mug of water, at a time, makes it very economical to use.
All in all, there are a couple of things it can't do that a larger kettle can. But for what the VKJ142 is intended it is very fast and very cheep to run and we would definitely recommend to anyone.Read full review...

I wasthing this energy saving kettle would save me time and money but I was wrong it does boil water fast but it boils more than a mug of water and there’s no control how much you boil so you have to throw at least half the water you boil away so where’s the saving all so it’s difficult to fill and does not hold that much water 💦 as you see iam not a happy camper save your money and by somthing else that you can control .Read full review...
