Without Brideshead Revisited, there would be no Downton Abbey
I caught this beautiful adaption of Brideshead Revisited way back in the early '80's when it first aired on PBS. I don't think I saw all of the episodes because when I rewatched it I couldn't remember some of the things that were happening. Seeing it on bluray is a wonderful experience! The colors and scenery are magnificent! It's a treat to see it on a large flatscreen television with a bigger screen than the one I watched it on the first time in the '80's. There is not a false note in this entire production. The acting is superb, the scenery is beautiful and the photography is stunning! The story itself is wonderfully told. My take on it is that it shows how a religion embraced and loved by one uppercrust English family can ultimately be its downfall. Brideshead Revisited was the Downton Abbey of its time.Read full review
