The eligant 1930,s at the box office despite the depression outside movie theatres.
1930,s films are totally dependent on good pix seen today-it they are not digitized, they are a complete turn off-fortunately most are digitized.
Most-popular at the box office in the 1930,s were Gracie Fields and also George Formby-the dance band films look great-I like the Harry Roy films as he was full of fun and had a great band of famous stars like Ivor Moreton and Dave Kaye, the piano twins as they were called.
However often British films hadn,t a big budget until along came Alexander Korda-other great producers included Powell and Pressburger. The Archers.
Jack Buchanan and also Jack Hulbert were 2 great 30,s stars but most movie-goers still prefered American films.Read full review...

The musicals lack polish. No doubt done on a shoot-string.
It is interesting to compare the British product with the American.
Please produce more in the series.Possibly Jack Hulbert & Cicely Courtnidge.
