Nice compass!

All in all I have to say I like this compass! The bezel works nicely not to loose, has nice scale features as well!

Loose bezel

The compass is okay, but the bezel is way too loose for my liking. It could easily move when you don't want it to. Of course you should write your bearings on a piece of paper after shooting your bearing and intended direction of travel but I would prefer that it wouldn't move so easily.

Not a huge fan of the shape although I'm sure it's made to be ergonomic. The curved side means you lose one straight edge. Not a deal breaker though.

The global needle is okay but I find it takes effort to balance it. More so than a regular needle that's calibrated for a particular hemisphere. But, it's adequate.

Brunton TruArc 10

A fine protractor compass with a resolution of 1 degree and tool-less adjustable declination with a price below $30, with the plus of being made in USA, tought built, and an outstanding warranty service from Brunton completes the equation. I had compasses with less features and precision much more expensive. Read full review...

A great Map and orienteering compass

This is a great compass for working with a map or waking the land. It has a set of scales for measuring distances on most maps and it is a great compass for walking out the path that you have determined you need to walk to get to your destination. On the side of the base plate there is a measuring scale in inches and millimeter. If you are looking at the scale of inches all you need to do to measure in millimeter is to slide the scale off and turn it over and slide it back on again. The base plate is big enough to fill most hands, with no sharp edges and thick enough to last almost for ever. The odd shape helps you to hold it in you hand without hurting or sliding around. I own several compasses and this, I believe, will become my go-to compass for laying out paths of travel and following those plans. I am no big fan of the Declination Adjustment system. It is difficult to adjust, but I still love everything else about this compass.Read full review...
