Innovative? Not Really. Could've Been Better.
I read reviews that Build A Lot won awards for being innovative. After playing the Nintendo DS version of the game I have to disagree. I loved the idea and concept but if the developers really wanted to make this game innovative then they would have expanded upon the idea more.
For example: The whole premise of the game is to buy and sell properties. You buy then make improvements which increase the value. Then when you sell you make more money. However, the game uses this concept very generically. Like when you go to make improvements on a home or property you just hit the "upgrade" button and it does it automatically. That was disappointing as I would have loved to actually been involved in the decisions of making upgrades. Like being able to see inside the properties and determining what can be done to make the properties more valuable. If you decide to do an upgrade then you actually choose from paint colors or wallpaper... or you can literally see what needs to be repaired and make choices.
In this game you just hit the upgrade or repair buttons and everything is done. There are no options to choose from and it makes this game kinda like Cake Mania where you have to complete certain objectives as quickly as possible, but your doing the same things over and over again. Gets repetitive and boring real fast.
I think the makers of the SIMS series of games should take the concept of flipping properties and houses and do the concept some real justice. Give us a more realistic view of the game and REAL choices that affect the outcome of the game. Make it more real and less generic.
Overall the game was just average. If your bored and need to waste some time then get the game and play it. Otherwise, don't bother.Read full review...

I love the computer version and was thrilled to find one for the DS. It's very much like the computer version, a little anoying that you have to basically do everything twice, because you have to also hit ok for every action. But , still fun!Read full review...
Great Build-A-Lot game for Nintendo DS
This game is a blast. I was so excited to find it on ebay. It is sold out in stores and online everywhere. I can't put it down. I can't wait to go back an redo the levels that I didn't do the best on. Fantastic game. It is geared more for the older teens and adults though. I recommend it.Read full review...

I had the game on trial on my computer and was hooked. It is a challenge sometimes and its really fun to play. I could play this game forever it is addicting. Its a task completing game and you have a choice to play on casual or career both are fun but casual isnt timed you can do it as long as you need to complete the challenge.Read full review...
