A good product

A simple easy to use tool to align the chain. The chain adjustment markers on my bike are a little off kilter so this gives me piece of mind, inexpensively and is easy to carry.

good product but useless because of the size of alignment rod

The alignment rod is way too short ... less than 6 inchers of usable rod after it is locked holder ... It is an odd size and cannot find a longer rod ,,, It needs to be atleast 14 to 16 inches long to even use it on a go cart and at least 18 to 20 inches for a mini bike and even longer if using on a motorcycleRead full review...

Simple and efrective

First I’d like y’all to know that working and riding on motorcycles is how is make my living.
Motion pro tools are very well made. Not one that I have is broken or fallen apart. The chain alignment tool is no exception. The markings on the swing arm is just a rough reference point. If you want to make sure that the chain runs on the same line with sprockets you need this tool.
Tool is made of metals but the screws are made of ABS plastic I believe. First you don’t need much force to hold this tool in place and secondly it won’t mar the sprocket.

Not An Essential Ttool, But Nicely Made.

Motion Pro has always made top quality tools. This gadget can be had for less money, but it works well and is pretty. Do you need it? I don't think so, because I was able position my head behind the bike in line with the sprocket and sight down the chain looking forward. This tool made things easier but was by no means essential. One caution. DO NOT rotate the rear wheel when this is clamped to the sprocket. You might damage the tool. Would I buy it again? Hard call. Having used it once, probably not. But if you have a bike where you cannot get a clear sight line along the chain this might be just the tool for you.

I did NOT like the fact that the clamp nut was plastic.

Will help line up your rear sprocket if your not to confident in drive chain adjustment.

At this price point it is us-full for chain aliment. Would be good if you could set the guide rod on either side so you could use it more easily on the bottom side of the sprocket. Using it on the top side will most likely require removing or at least lifting the chain guard.Read full review...

Motion Pro 08-0048

If you're planning on doing your own bike maintenance, then this is a must-have. Just mount it to your rear sprocket (with the bar directly over the chain facing towards the front of the bike) and it will tell you if your rear sprocket/chain is lined up with the drive sprocket. Anodized solid aluminum construction, has a solid feel, and the mounting screw is easy to adjust. The bar is nice and straight (and replaceable, apparently) and showed me the chain was indeed aligned correctly on my MT09 when mounting it for the first time.

I've only mounted it once as my bike is brand new and won't need maintenance for a little while. When the time comes, I should be able to check and adjust chain alignment just fine with this. For the price, you can't beat it!

Nice tool!

This tool is designed specifically for working with motorcycle chains and it does it extremely well. I accidentally stepped on it before I got to use it, but fortunately the tool is also strong and the sighting rod was still perfectly straight and it worked a treat!Read full review...
