Modern Cars are Power Hungry
Have you ever noticed that the stop/start function on your car stops working for no apparent reason? That puzzled me for some time. Nearly new car, carefully driven, what could be going wrong? The answer was that mine, like most modern cars, is power hungry. The car is designed to do many miles a day every day, but it just doesn't get that sort of use. Radio, sat-nav, heating, data transmission take a heavy toll on the battery on short drives. If the charge is not sufficient some functions are taken 'off-line'. Auto stop/start is one of the first. So! For the first time in many years, I have returned to trickle-charging the battery every so often. Modern chargers like CTEK also condition the battery. Not worth it and not true reading,tested by another good tester.
My battery is 12 months old and 3 hours after a full charge this went to Amber so tested off another tester and was just off full as a car will always use that bit of charge.
I would not recommend this as Amber light is charge but not flat but didn't need charging.
£7.99 in the bin,the charger by CTEK is amazing and the cigi lighter adapter to charge it.
Don't forget this when on the battery will always have a flashing light on so may only be a bit of battery being used but all these so called ''bits'' all add up over a period of time so don't help.Read full review

After a drive it shows green but after just one night it shows red,meaning less than 60% charge????

This is my second CTEK charger the first being the 3600 model. My classic BMW battery is now 16 years old so CTEK must be doing something right!

Good little idea
It's a good concept, attach it to your battery and with a quick glance you can tell if you need to worry or not.
I've got one on my car as its battery is in the boot under cover, the connector peaks out over the shelf so at a glance I can see the state of health of the battery with its traffic light led system otherwise it would be along task of having to strip half the boot down just to see the battery ,let alone test it.
The other is on my motorbike, its waterproof and again it's so simple.
The extension leads mean I don't have to disconnect battery from either to charge or condition the battery if I have to, it's just a snap fit to the connector and your away it really is that simple once fitted.
I've even got one as spare or if I get something else with a battery!

For a simple lead it quite clever
The little traffic light LEDs tell you if the battery is filly charged (green) not fully charged (amber) and need charging now (red) - simple and effective, oh, and its a lead to !
