A Must-Have

There's not much to review here: if you use big lenses and need a circular polarizer, this is your only option.

There are Mark I and Mark II versions of this, and the only difference is the colour of the exterior paint, so as to match the colour of the Mark I and Mark II lenses -- if you worry about such things.

I bought the Mark II, slightly concerned it might not fit my 200mm f/2, which wasn't listed as compatible, but of course it works fine.

The only thing I don't like with this rear filter arrangement is, if you rotate the camera between landscape and portrait orientations, you then have to re-adjust the polarizer. With front-mounted polarizers, you can hold the polarizer still with one hand, and rotate the camera with the other, retaining your original adjustment.

When I looked at the pictures before buying, I thought it might be tricky to adjust, but the finger wheel is positioned well for easy access, and rotates freely.

It's well made, works well, and as you might expect for a minor accessory from Canon, is expensive (there are some half-decent Canon lenses that cost less than this). But if you need one, you need one, and there aren't any third-party alternatives.
