There are two types of battery grips for the canon 350D/400D. The BG-E3 and the CS-BGE3.
The CS-BGE3 has an integral battery which has to be charged with a power unit and lead. Loose the lead and your in trouble. But the BG-E3 uses the battery from your camera, much better and if you insert two in the grip, better still.Read full review...
