Very good camera!

This camera comes with a lot of easy-to-use features, which are comparable to semi-professional cameras such as the Canon 50D and 7D. It has a nice hand grip and the buttons are very ergonomical. You can actually do wonders in the Manual mode, changing many of the features as they suit your needs. The 18-55mm kit lens produces crisp, good quality images. GRRRREAT SLR camera for a newbie. (Check out the reviews in AMAZON!)

As my first SLR camera, I have no way of comparing it to another SLR, but with my last camera (which was a point & shoot). This camera was advertised as a beginner's SLR; easy to use, and easy to learn.

Pros:
--18 megapixels!!!
--Shoots in JPG and RAW modes
--HD recording capability
--Easy to learn and understand
--Great software included in the box
--Light and very comfortable in the hand
--Its a DSLR (so it's expandable by getting more lenses)
--GREAT battery life!

Cons
--Only can record for 30 minutes (but its camera first, not a camcorder, so is not much of a con)

Great Buy for someone who wants a DSLR with awsome HD video capabilites

Being a Nikon User for quite some time (using a D70s and D80), I bought the Canon Rebel T2i (550D) over the Nikon D90 for some for several reasons:

1. It has 18 mega pixels. The same CMOS censor and metering system found in much expesnive model, the Canon 7D (compered to Nikon's D90 14.2 mega pixel CMOS sensor)
2. 1080p HD video at 30 frames per seconds and 720p at 60 frames per second. (as of the D90 only has 720p)
3. External 1/8 stereo mic inputs (in which the Nikon has no external mic options)
4. Wide range of Canon L and EF lense that are compatable to this DSLR.

Yes, I know the Nikon D5100/D7000 has a similar specs as of the Canon T2i but it's CMOS sensor is only 16 megapixels, plus you will find that the Canons T2i affordable price range is easier to your wallet than the D5100 kit.

And since the T2i is a entry level DSLR, I find it alot more fun and easy to use than my Nikon D80 when it comes to taking picture, but my main reason of purchasing this is the awsome HD video you can get with this little DSLR.Read full review...

Great picture quality, both sophisticated and easy to use.

I have had this camera for several months now and we absolutely love it. It takes great pictures. I was intimidated at first about purchasing such a complicated camera but was pleasantly surprised how easy it is to use. Has a convenient dial selector to quickly changes modes. These settings do all of the thinking for you. Can easily switch between fully automatic, manual (sunset pics), or sports action shots for instance. The pictures almost always come out perfect. This camera takes very few bad pictures while it automatically adjusts. With a zoom lens you can get all those perfect pictures that just aren't possible with traditional point and shoot cameras.Read full review...

The Canon EOS Rebel T2i takes the reins from the company's existing T1i model as the flagship of its consumer-oriented EOS Rebel camera series. Externally, the Canon T2i looks very much like its predecessor, being almost identical in overall size but with softer, more gently rounded shoulders. Under the skin, the Canon T2i brings a few features from Canon's prosumer EOS 7D model into a Rebel-class body, creating a baby brother to the 7D.

Sporting an 18-megapixel sensor similar to that of the 7D, the Canon Rebel T2i doesn't shoot quite as fast as its big brother, but its frame rate is slightly increased over the T1i, from 3.4 to 3.7 frames per second, despite the resolution increase. The most obvious external changes include a new 3:2 ratio LCD with 1.04 million dots of resolution, a dedicated live view / movie button, and a restyling of several other buttons to make them easy to locate and identify by touch.

Card compatibility on the Canon T2i includes SD, SDHC, and SDXC, and a new Eye-Fi status screen improves user awareness of these special wireless SD cards.

The Canon T2i's ISO ranges from 100 to 6,400, with a special high ISO option of 12,800. Movie mode also has expanded ability, covering 1080p recording at 24, 25, and 30 fps, rather than the T1i's more limited 20 fps. Manual video exposure is also available, as is an external mic input jack. The Canon T2i is also particularly unusual in also allowing single autofocus operations during movie recording.

Best DSLR Camera available with HD movie capability

I researched Digital Single Lens Reflex Cameras for about 8 months and decided this was the best for the money. And I was not disappointed. I bought the Kiss one so I could get one made in Japan instead of made in China. Same camera but I wanted one made in Japan. I liked it so much that I bought my son one for Christmas. It is very well built and of course the pictures and HD movies I can take with it are beyond what I can describe. Fairly easy to use and has a nice size backlit display. No manual comes with it but you get cd's. I later bought the 70-300mm lens from another seller. This is top of the line and I've had my original one for about a year with no problems at all. The auto focus is a winner but sometimes I use the manual to get unreal closeups of flowers etc. Has the feel of a real camera. Best to get an extra battery and go for the biggest high speed sdhc card you can afford so you can take longer movies. The movie feature is a little tricky to start and stop but you get to learn it. Seems like the battery could last longer, so a second one is a must. I was able to buy an adapter and use a Variogon Schneiner Kreuznach lens with it and also a Leitz Wetzler lens. You have to focus manually though. You can hook this camera up to your computer and take pictures from your computer and of course you can buy the remote control gadget and take pictures from a distance of about 30 feet or so. simple, quick and takes outstanding photos. two big thumbs up!

i must confess that i have used a digital camera for a decade but this was my first digital slr. i am so happy because it is simple to take great photoss and takes great photos always. i love the extra distance witht the 300mm lens. i was able to shoot supercross motorcycle pictures from 50 rows up. hard to believe but after 200 photos, 195 of them were in focus. the major strength of this camera is the sharp quality pictures at a fast rate. i love it and i love the extra lens that came with the camera.

upsides: cheap, simple, sharp and crisp
downsides: the telephoto is bulky and will not let you take close up pix. if i had to do it all over, i would probably buy something with a shorter focal pt as the 75-300 only works for distance shooting. but the major advantage was the bargain price of this package.Read full review...
