I already have a Canon DSLR but I wanted a smaller cheap camera with all the advanced settings for my workshop. The Canon PowerShot G6 is ideal for the job as it has all the features and an excellent lens. I use it on a tripod with the ISO set to the minimum of 100 for excellent sharp photos. 7 MP is ideal for taking photos for the website or customers as you usually have to scale them down for email. Still a great camera

A little dated by digital compact standards but still a very capable camera capable of excellent results.
The G series in the Canon range was aimed at the person who wanted more than basic settings and controls and suits the more advanced amateur, the G6 has a good zoom range (4X) and Canons usual sharp lens.
The 7.1 megapixel sensor produces excellent images up to A4, the camera is quite bulky compared with most compacts but has the added feature of an optical viewfinder which is essential when taking a shot in bright sunlight when the LCD screen cannot be seen clearly.
