The "old" 1962 Cape Fear is a far superior story/movie to the "new" 1991Cape Fear. I've seen them both. Robert Mitchum's character Max Cady is a shrewd, cold and conniving killer who draws-out gut-wrenching, primal fear in the people he threatens (as well as the audience). There is no doubt about his intention to carry-out his thinly veiled threats in a cruel and barbaric manner; it's only a matter of time.
