Pros and cons

CONS:This kit is not as described in the listing and pictures. It does not come with a blue non-stick base gasket. It comes with a standard black base gasket. It is also described as being a direct replacement for the Edelbrock 1477 rebuild kit but has far less pieces than the Edelbrock kit. Most notably it does not come with metering rod retaining springs, full instructions/diagrams and many other parts. Some of the small gaskets don't fit perfectly, but will work.
PROS: Comes with complete heavy duty brass shaft accelerator pump with heavy duty shaft spring & blue cup and appears to be good quality. Edelbrock kit has only the replacement pump cup which installs on your existing pump shaft which is probably plastic. This PCFI kit also has high flow .110" needles and seats. Edelbrock kit comes with standard .0935" needles and seats. Overall a pretty good value for the money, considering a new brass accelerator pump and pair of needles and seats would cost much more than the price of this kit and the Edelbrock kit costs much more as well.Read full review

Quality Issues

I gave this 2 stars because of the quality issues (see pics). The choke linkage bellcrank was the wrong size/part, causing it to bind against the carburetor body, but I made it usable by adding a washer. Called the seller; he sent someone to look at their cores and says "our cores look OK." What does that mean? I'm talking about the carb I have in my hands.

The carb idle would not adjust on the right side. Pulled the idle adjusters and the one for that side was damaged. I have several Edelbrock carbs here in the shop so I just replaced the adjuster with one from my other carbs. I should not have had to do that.

I rebuild all my carburetors anyway and only needed a good core, so I kept it. Most of what I have are 600CFM but I needed a 500CFM - and rebuilt as well for the price of a core seemed like good deal. Aside from above, the carb seems to run alright on the street.Read full review

the kit and parts are all good the only problem was the spec sheet on the float level and drop. if set to what the sheet said your carb would have been flooding. same with the float drop not enough. but that's info you can find online. the kit itself is good. wish it came with the clip that goes on the top of the needle on the float. but I don't think any kits do anymore. if it's what you need get it. good parts good price.Read full review

Excellent price...do order gaskets for install.

Unable to use the carb right away. Suggest a notation that a mounting gasket kit is in order. Just happened to have a Edelbrock installation handbook for another carb purchased giving kit numbers. Other that that, I look forward to the install. Carb does look excellent.Read full review

Good Carb. Good Company

Don't usually leave reviews, but this deserved it. Shipped fast. Received in less than a week. Popped it on, adjusted idle and good to go. 500cfm is my preference for stock small blocks in heavy automatic vehicles. This was the cheapest I've seen, and is rebuilt as good as new. PCFI carb kits are great

I bought 2 Edelbrock type carb kits from them. They are of excellent quality. They include both street and off-road needles/seats. The gaskets are of good quality. Their kits include real brass accelerator pump shafts!

I installed this on my 1982 K-30 Chevy 4...

I installed this on my 1982 K-30 Chevy 4X4 with a 454 cubic Inch engine. Some said it was too small at 500 CFM. It runs better than my 600 CFM Edelbrock carburetor. My only complaint is that it didn't increase the MPG at all. 454's are notorious for 6 to 8 MPG loaded or empty.Read full review
