A True Horror Classic

Carrie has always been a horror favorite of mine. And its also the first Stephen King novel I ever read. It has an excellent cast. Sissy Spacek, John Travolta, William Katt, Nancy Allen, Amy Irving, and of course Piper Laurie who did a brilliant job playing Margaret White. Carrie is an outcast who just doesnt fit in anywhere. Her classmates despise Her. And to make matters worse, Her Mothers completely insane hiding behind god and religion. And abuses Carrie every chance She gets. Personally I think Carries a great girl, and would probably be more accepted by Her classmates if Her Mom ever taught Her anything about life. Anyway, she gets invited to the prom only to face a cruel prank by some of Her classmates (She seems a little more accepted by then). But what they dont know is Carrie White has the gift of telekenisis. And they all will pay. Carries one of the best films ever made, and for some reason there remaking it. The First Is The Best

This is Stephen Kings very first novel turned movie and it delivers a powerful punch to school bullies everywhere..Sissy Spacek is wonderful as the menaced and menacing Carrie White a normal teenager would it not have been for her strange devout Mother Margret played by Piper Laurie..Carrie a red haired freckle faced nerd who has no friends, but longs to fit in has a special power she's telekenetic a secret she keeps to herself..Viewers can't help, but pity the young Girl who is terrorized both at home and at school watch as she reaches her boiling point and uses the school prom as the kettle..I love this movie as well as the remake which I believe actually ended as this one should have ended..Great acting, great storyline, great script! Carrie Special Edition DVD

Well, we all know this version of Carrie is a classic horror film. This DVD has excellent picture quality compared to the original DVD release. Still, it's not perfect, but that is expected considering the original source material. The 5.1 Dolby Surround is the same as the original DVD release. The original mono movie soundtrack is an added feature.

Unfortunately, there is no audio commentary. However, there are two excellent documentaries included. "Acting Carrie" deals with the cast. "Visualizing Carrie' deals with the production. There is also a nice behind the scenes photo gallery. "Stephen King and the Evolution of Carrie" is a good read as well.

Rounding out the features is a short featurette of Carrie the Musical and the original theatrical trailer. There is also a small booklet with some notes on the film. Lots of good stuff for Stephen King fans. I highly recommend this version over the original DVD release.Read full review...

Stephen King's Carrie

I have always loved the movie Carrie. I loved the movie because it is a horror film and I am a horror buff. Carrie terrifies you to the core, and shows you how cruel society can be especially when your a teenage girl in High School with a strange ability you do not yet fully understand. I think that the movie was Fantastic Horror Film Fun.
I have to admit that even though it was made in 1976 it is still just as Scary, and mind boggling as ever. Stephen King did an Excellent job with the book and the movie turned out a masterpiece. Sissy Spacek as "Carrie" was an excelent choice positively her best work ever. Nobody ents could have pulled the part of Carrie off as well, and with as much contempt and pure passion as she did. All and all the movie is a Hit and I firmly suggest that you pick it up and give it a watch. You won't be dissapointed.Read full review...

Carrie is a horror classic!

This is one of the best movies that’s based on a Stephen King novel but also one of the best from 1976 aside from Rocky and The Omen.

Carrie is a fantastic movie.

I've liked the movie Carrie ever since I was a kid and now that I'm older I feel that I can truly appreciate it for the horror classic that it is. The movie follows a young misfit by the name of Carrie White, who's constantly tormented by her peers. All she really wants to do is fit in, but her goal is seemingly an impossible one to reach because of her abusive mother and cruel schoolmates. The film is fantastic in my opinion and I think any one who views it will love it and start to sympathize and relate to the title character.Read full review...

Carrie DVD

IMHO, a bunch better view of high schoolers than the much lauded and not without merit 'American Graffiti.' An excellent performance by all concerned, especially Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie. Really good direction by de Palma and a nice screenplay that (again imho) was better than King's novel that inspired it. I had owned a copy of this a few years back but had to sell my former VHS.
