Oh, the humanity...

Director Neil Blomkamp shows us a future here (not as dark as District 9) where the creation of true AI is being explored. Sharlto Copley is absolutely masterful (portrays Chappie) and all relevant sequences are his actual physical performance and not entirely CGI. We can really identify with the character: he was just 'born' into a harsh world and everyone wants to use him to accomplish their own selfish ends. Surprisingly, Chappie the (retired) police robot ends up being the one 'person' in the film that you really feel empathy for. Most of the real humans are entertainingly despicable. Lots of dark humor. (notable supporting appearances from Sigourney Weaver & Hugh Jackman). I saw Chappie when it came out earlier in the year at the Movie Theater. I really enjoyed the movie. It is one of my favorites in the Sci-fy movie genera. Great story and well acted.
