With oddballs like this, Britain is unbeatable

This is an incredible story, in the best tradition of British amateur warfare. There's something compelling about the mend and make do attitude of the people who just could not see defeat as a possibility. You want a limpet mine ? Right, let's pop down to Woolworths and get the ingredients. Need a time delay fuse ? Easy; aniseed balls. How do we stop the fuse activating ? Hmmm. Pop down the chemists (every chemist in Bedford) and buy up their stock of condoms.

You couldn't make it up.

Can’t put it down. Brilliant.

Brilliant book that summed up the levels that Churchill would go to win World War 2. A time of nicotine fuelled, woolly jumper wearing, garden shed boffins dreaming up all manner of skullduggery that the Cads and Bounders of the upper crust used to ‘take it to Hitler’. Can’t put it down. Brilliant.Read full review

Fascinating Read

Fascinating book, well written. Made me realise what sacrifice that generation of men and woman made to win the war against evil tyranny. Thoroughly recommend you read it, if your are at all interested in the history of WWll.Read full review

When Britain was pulled kicking and screaming into the new age of war.

Very well written, tells the story of how Britain went from playing by the rules to discovering that breaking them was much more efficient.
