Back then fruit cakes were sometimes home baked and also always available in all grocery stores; plus Christmas visitors frequently brought them as the then customary "token gift to the hostess" too! I'd get to eat most of sometimes 5, 6 or 7 fruit cakes each year----and I'd get the "most" because I'd sneak thick slices every time I went through the kitchen!!! No, I wasn't a fat kid either--actually skinny---I just loved those fruit cakes that were ONLY around at Christmas time!!!!!
This package had 5 cakes and I ate a whole cake as soon as they arrived!!! DELICIOUS!!!! My only complaint is that they are SO small in this century!!!! The fruit cakes of the 1950's were much bigger than now!!! They were my favorite Christmas food as a kid and still are today---even when I have to wait till weeks after Christmas to order them---for my budget they are expensive---but worth it for that special treat!!!
