This is a who's who of British stars who go on to be household names eg Sarah Lancashire, Lesley Sharp, Siobhan Finneran, Philip Glennister etc . Good characters and powerful storylines. It is about 20 years old and picture quality is not as good as it would be in HD and I would have liked subtitles but they aren't available but well worth watching.Read full review

Good acting and great stories.

I was drawn into the lives of the various characters and the series was entirely watchable. My only disappointment is that I am unable to obtain series 2, 3 and 4 and wonder why this is.
