A different approach to "mystery murder shows"
I always loved this detective (along with Mr. Monk...always wanted to see them both together...talk of the odd couple). Anyway, in this show you know the "who done it." This is unlike most detective murder mystery shows and books. What sets this apart is this: This show is about how Columbo must prove the "who done it" and turn it into a "got ya." I love his seeming innocent, fumbling approach...but don't be fooled, Columbo is no fool. He may not be a Canadian Mounty but he will "always get his man" (or woman, as the case may be). In the 1991-2003 set there were 2 copies of Disk 4 one of which was scratched to the point it wouldn't play part of an episode and Disk 5 was missing altogether! The disks are in 4:3 TV format, newer sets of Columbo are available in 16:9. That said, this set does represent good value for money and I am mostly satisfied.Read full review

Great stories, performers and quality of production.
We are loving the retro scenes, the marvelous character of Columbo and that each episode has a couple well known actors as special guest stars. Also, that we, the audience, know who the murderer is at the start and are rooting for Columbo to figure out to catch the villan. Great series that we are enjoying immensely.Read full review

Something nice and easy to have on the tube
I needed something easy going and pleasantly entertaining to watch and Peter Falk's portrayal of Columbo provides this. Columbo seems to be obtuse but actually he's quite clever behind that scruffy facade. Falk's Columbo is charming. And I also like the vibe of 1970's L.A.
