Variety of sounds
The Conair Sound Machine has many different sounds, good volume and simple to use. I bought it for my mother to mask outside bothersome noises at night and early morning. Nevertheless for those that are musicians I must warn that the sounds of the Conair Sound Machine, have sequences which some musicians and singers will pick up and keep them awake. Read full review

receives interference easy and will wake you at night.
used this to help sleep at night with white noise. I had to "CLOSE" or squeeze the box, it wouldn't even work at first!!! I had to squeeze it so it would even turn on and work right.
Then when it was on, at night time, it would randomly BEEP LOUD * and wake me. It would get random interference and make loud static noises.
Can't even use it anymore. Waste of money.
Wish it worked better :(Read full review

white noise machine
easy to read instructions. turn on and ready to go. only flaw i have is that it has the same couple of sounds over and over. could have a few more sound effects added in each selection. it does work pretty well for falling asleep faster. would recomend for the price.Read full review

Conair Sleep Therapy Sound Macine SU1W
Pros: Machine is lightweight and the controls are easy to understand. There are options for sound to turn off after 1 hour or continue through the night. Volume control is easy to use and has a broad range. There are 10 different sound to choose from.
Cons: I prefer the "White Noise" option. After a while, there is an irritating grinding noise that defeats the purpose of the steady white noise sound. I used a HoMedics brand machine for many years. The steadiness of the sound was greatly superior to this brand. Unfortunately, the model I loved so much has been discontinued.Read full review

TV... The only way for me!
For years, I have gone to sleep to the sound of a low tv, and my doctor recently told me that is bad, " you have the light and the fluctuating noise and with sleep apnea especially that is bad... Get the white noise machine...They are cheap and do a very good job"...I got the machine, at a great price, and the machine works very well, but it keeps me awake... I cannot use it at all... I went back to the TV and sleep like a baby....
I say it is not a good value... It is not too me, as it did me no good!Read full review

Drop in quality and Craftsmanship
I purchased the Conair Therapy Sound Machine as a gift for my son based off of reviews I saw on Amazon and some Youtube Videos.
When it arrived it came int the retail box without any extra protection. Before shipping it I decided to put batteries in it for him and add extra padding for shipping. I happen to own a older Conair Sound Machine (see picture) so I compared the sounds of the two machines. My older machine has a nicer design and it reminds me of a seashell or a raindrop and the sounds are much more realistic than this newer Conair version also it is built much more solidly. In my opinion I would not recommend the current Conair Sound Machine. They have gone backwards in the craftsmanship and technology. I'd recommend purchasing a different brand. Just hope my son isn't too disappointed. Thanks Conair.Read full review

Annoying tape loops
I was looking for "white noise". This product has a white noise button, along with some other possibilities, including Rainfall and the like. But all are short loops of sound, and after a while my brain picks up the repeating rhythm. So then we go from white noise to ugly quasi-music, that seems like it would eventually drive somebody right over the edge. I cringe to think of poor babies being subjected to this, without the ability to turn it off and/or write a review!Read full review

Sound is scratchy and repetitive
For what it is and for what it costs (I paid $20 for mine, including shipping) it's a bargain, but there are some issues I couldn't get past.
The sound is very scratchy and raspy, only high frequency comes out through the tiny speaker. A lot of the sounds that I needed to mask are in lower frequencies, and they are not masked.
The sound effects are on a very short, maybe 10-20 second loop, and it's obvious, annoying, and keeps me awake. I found both the rain effect and the stream effect had noticeable rhythms. The sounds were not random enough to be relaxing, and were so artificial that they actually woke me up from a sound sleep.Read full review

It does what it says, but
OK, first the thunder is ok but it cycles every 6 or 7 seconds. You learn the pattern very quickly. The same for the waves and the rain, and the babbling brook. Those were the ones I wanted to use for better sleep. They were fine they just needed to run longer before they cycled. The machine is a good size so I expected these sound tracks to be a few minutes long before they started over again.Read full review

Reviewing the product--not the item I purchased.
I have now purchased 3 of these Conair sound machines. The first died within days. The second lasted almost two years before starting to shut off randomly. The third, although it seems to be working fine so far, is not as loud as the last. So, if there is something to say about these machines, it is this: For the price, they do the job well. However, they seem to be made haphazardly with no predictable standards of workmanship.Read full review
