Works pretty well!

The steering wheel control part doesn't need the add-on box when used with the saab 9-5 my98-03 and unfortunately the seller didn't know how to connect up this car but figured it out myself with multimeter!

Also seems a common issue by +12v on red and yellow are incorrectly swapped. Need changing to use properly.

Otherwise the connections work fine.

Instructions are lacking

This car might be one of the more difficult cars to install a stalk adapter in. There are some vague instructions that comes with the adapter that tells you to look for a connector under the steering wheel column.
How you get in there is something I've yet to figure out. The instructions also say that you need to be careful to not user the wrong pin of the two that are in that connector, since it's the airbag(!).

I've tried to search the Internet for some more detailed instructions, but I have not found any. So, I have no idea if this product works or not. I just can't figure out how to install it.

Instructions woeful

To claim this adapter is plug 'n' play is very inaccurate. Instructions are a huge help as far as marrying up to your own brand of heaf unit, but only a few poor diagrams are given for fitting to the Saab loom. There is a mystery 1m length of yellow cable left dangling, with no details in the instructions. Wasn't surprised to find my steering controls didn't work...so much for plug 'n' play then...
I dug up some incorrect info on the Connects2 website regarding the airbag wires and connector, a look at another retailers website ( still inaccurate but more helpful ) and a search on the various Saab forums helped me suss it out.
Remove the steering cowl, locate two connectors underneath. DO NOT tamper with the yellow & amber connector as this v. definately the airbag loom. Locate the two tone grey connector. Patch in the yellow wire to the blue cable on this grey block. This was the case with my 2000 9-5 Aero. The other retailers website showed the same connector, but with a yellow / black wire to parch into. This is possibly either a later 9-5 or a 9-3. This cable ( blue on mine ) goes to the SID, so patching into this nearer the SID is possible and is detailed on the Saab World forum ( search fitting kenwood diuble din ).
My JVC now works a treat with the steering buttons. All this hassle for one mysterious cable....

Plug 'n' Play?!

Seller's listing claimed this was plug 'n' play. I plugged it in and it doesn't play! I found I had a mysterious yelliw wire left sangling, with no mention of this wire in the instructions. Instructions weren't vehicle specific as claimed and best deacribed as woeful. Another seller states that TWO wires need to be patched in to the steering wheel harness under the dash. Connect2 website seems more accurate as their instructions state that ONE wire ( the yellow one ) should be patched into the steering harness. Instructions again are vague - caution is advised and they inaccurately state that 'the yellow Air Bag wire' must not be tampered with.
Car Audio Direct list the connector on their website. Clicking a link for a handy installation tip will display a photo of the YELLOW AIR BAD CONNECTOR BLOCK that must not be tampered with AND THE CORRECT WHITE STEERING CONTROLS HARNESS, together with info on which wire to tap into. I will try to install mine again, armed with this info.
Hardly plug 'n' play then. Shame Connects2 ( and Dynamic Sounds - my supplied kit was branded with their name ) can't supply a better set of instructions, or at least supply accurate info on their website, or better still, make use of the info graciously given on Car Audio Direct's website.
