Great little switch.

Just plug it in and away it goes. Seamlessly turning a single port router into a 7 port network. (The DES-1008D has eight ports but one is needed to plug into your router).

You can't make a connection mistake, all ports auto sense if they are connected to a network interface card (NIC), which includes motherboard based NICs or if they are connected to a router or even another switch or hub.

Easy to mount, very light, and the screws and plugs provided work well in plasterboard, or use the four rubber feet to simply place it on your desktop.

The price of these 10/100 Mb/s switches are now very cheap and at the SOHO end of the market there is not much point going gigabit for a local area network until broadband gets near to 100 Mb/s (imagine that!).

I bought the DES-1008D as a replacement for a lightning struck Sitecom switch and am delighted with the simplicity and increase in speed.

A simple, dependable switch

A simple plastic cased unmanaged 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet switch with an external mains power adapter supplying 7.5v DC at 1A. The switch runs cool and silently. It does not have or need an internal fan.

The switch can be wall mounted or used on a desktop. They are supplied new with push in 'rubber' feet but these often get lost or thrown away. The plastic case is reasonably sturdy but can pop apart if it is dropped on a hard floor as mine was. However, mine clipped back together just fine and is still fully operational.

It works well as a Fast Ethernet switch and I have not experienced any problems running mixed speed devices with it. The LED's are small, but adequate, and probably an advantage if locating in a living room with a media center.
