World History

Really good movie, I have been watching Gary Oldman for years in movies, and could never figure out why he never got an academy award before this but, I guess the right role, and time just ahd to be right...I thank you very much, MPP.Read full review

good points, but overall weak...

Good entertainment, good characters and value. Well done flick. BUT... The movie script only shows Churchill near the war's beginning and does not take the "darkest hour" into the later days when the man kept the British in the conflict. In essence his leadership stood alone against the Nazis, for several years. Therefore a lower rating for me.Read full review

It really was England's darkest hour. They stood to lose their entire army at Dunkirk had it not been for Churchill's decisive action.

I deeply admire Winston Churchill and enjoyed seeing him at his finest, even though it was truly a dark hour for England. I hated that he was voted out of office after seeing his country through its greatest threat from Nazi Germany. It shows how short-sighted and unappreciative people can be.Read full review

Darkest Hour

Oldman has been overlooked for years. But no more. It's about time this talented actor is garnering some of the recognition her deserves.

Darkness Hour, a movie about the Brightness Victory

Best movie I have seen in YEARS. I heard of this moving and thought I had seen it with a movie called "Churchill" That movie was awful. This movie is spot on historicity. Soooooo if you hear bad things about a movie on Churchill over the WWII this is not it. Try Darkest Hour. You will be happy it is in your collection of movies to see again. Read full review

Great historic work!

Wow! A very historically accurate depiction of one of the greatest heroes of WWII! And this is just a relatively small, but important slice of it. Hopefully, there will be at least a couple of sequels to continue the story!Read full review

Powerful Stuff!

Mr. Oldman gave a towering performance. I'm sure many people who lived through those days thought they were seeing and hearing Winston Churchill again. Absolutely riveting movie.

Not what I was hoping for. The movie ends before the so called Battle of Britain begins.

I was hoping for most of the movie to be about the battle with Germany. Instead the movie is about the beginnings of the appointment of Churchill as Prime Minister. The most important part of the Churchill administration to me was how he acted during the war with the Nazis. I would not have gotten the movie had I known it was about the early part of Churchill's rise to power.Read full review

Terrific!

Gary Oldman is a brilliant actor. He not only acts, but becomes the character with make-up so that you don't even recognize which actor it is. Churchill was awesome and it was really good to see more about him.Read full review

Interesting Perspective

As Hollywood always does, especially recently, including fairy tales like Schindler's List, they endlessly LIE to protect the narrative and pay very well in order to achieve their end goal.

Please allow me to introduce to you THE REAL MURDERER, for which HITLER was FRAMED. (and this is very important) ~ CHURCHILL already had the 'heartless and solidified drunkardness about him' which allowed for such genocides. And it is all detailed for all to see.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Indian, Greece, Kenya, "using asphyxiating gasses against the uncivilized tribes" and does not understand the squeamishness of using mustard gas against Germany!!

(as per the train wreck in Ohio just recently)
