An All Too Often Overlooked LP From The Thin White Duke
I've just finished listening to Bowie live in Ohio 1976, Un Chien Andalou, a brilliant public domain CD bootleg culled from the 1976 tour. I've been re-visiting and listening to my 1976 tour tapes after ignoring them for too long.
It's moved me to write that Station To Station is one David Bowie LP all too often overlooked by fans, including myself, young and old. But as if we did not know it already, Station To Station reminds us Bowie is a killer song writer.
The Thin White Duke delivers hard, straight, bare bones musical arrangements, yet pointed and emotional song writing - carefully wrapped in a few new studio tricks and special effects but not hidden or preoccupied in pushing too many themes or theatre.
As a result on his 1976 tour Bowie & Co. faithfully reproduce all these great tracks in some mind blowing 10-15 minute anthems like Word On A Wing, Stay and the title track Station To Station!! This simply adds to the enjoyment of owning the original LP and helps you begin to get to know the man Bowie himself a little better as a composer. You can also imagine his love life and spiritual status must have been in some state of flux reading between the lines of those emotionally charged lyrics on Stay and Word On A Wing.
We are not worthy Lord..... Get yourself a copy quick (CD, LP whatever!!) ENJOY !!! Then start hunting down those 1976 tour tapes too!

70s BOWIE = ESSENTIAL
What can one say? This is 70s David Bowie!!! Everything he did then was absolutely fantastic and essential listening, and so is this album.
A lot of people say it's his best - I don't agree, but that's not saying much: it's still perfect, and amazing!Read full review...
