Good features, does what I needed it for so far

This does just what it says on the tin.

The hand operated brakes, with a parking brake are well worth having, as are the larger rear wheels.

We have added a separate cushion to improve the comfort, but that would be standard on most wheel chairs.

Fortunately for me my mother is very light and therefore I found I could easily control it uphill and down.

As with many things in life you have to compromise, and in this case the ability to fold into a small space means it might not be as robust if you have a heavy wheelchair user and wish to use it over long distances or uneven surfaces

Because my mother is not ready for a wheelchair yet, but just gets very sore legs/feet if we go too far, I had intended to carry it in my rucksack so we could set off on foot around a town, but get it out if it gets too much for her.

We have only taken it on one long weekend away so far, and it did exactly as I wanted and we are now considering holidays further away.

BUT

I think my plan to carry it is a bit optimistic, it will fit in my very big long distance hiking rucksack(80ltr) but it is more awkward to carry than I had anticipated, and carrying it around for long distances in it's own bag is not easy either.

Lightweight but not sturdy

I find this wheelchair a very good product but my only criticism is that it is not very sturdy, I bought this wheelchair because it was lightweight and the one I had was good but it was heavy and cumbersome, I take my mother out for walks and as I am 62 myself I was looking for some thing more manageable, it performs great on the flat and even surfaces but when it comes to bumpy and uneven terrain that's where it falls down, when you try to bump up and down pavements it's quite tricky, also it would benifit from a seat belt, a couple of times my mother has almost fallen out of the chair, but all in all, you can get used to it, but be careful,Read full review...

Good lightweight, foldable wheelchair

Bought this for occasional use when out & about in our Mazda MX-5, as a conventional folding wheelchair simply won't fit in the boot.

We like:
Easily fits in the small boot of a Mazda MX-5r>Folding mechanism is easy to operate
Brakes are secure, and with handle-mounted controls are easy to operate
It is quite light

We don't like:
Some parts are distinctly cheap/lightweight - especially the folding/detatching mechanism of the footrests.
The supplied bag is a snug fit and the material/zip is not especially stout. I doubt it will last beyond a year or two.
There are a couple of removable plastic caps which cover the exposed sharp edges of the folding mechanism and protect the bag. They are dead easy to misplace or lose completely...
The front castors are prone to catching on e.g. raised flagstones/cobbles and as they are tucked fairly well back this makes the whole chair prone to tipping forward. We've only had one actual face-plant episode but it's something that I (the pusher) have to constantly think about.

In summary, it does what it does quite well, but there are signs of being built down to a price and that tendency to tip forwards is a bit worrying. For the price though I really cannot complain and it does fit in the very restricted boot of a Mazda sports car! It means we can enjoy our days out without being tied to the immediate environs of the car park.Read full review...

Great for day trips and holidays.

This was perfect for my elderly mother’s needs. Although she can walk unaided, at 90 she tires easily and can no longer walk long distances so this was exactly what she needed. Easy to fold and unfold, great for car with smaller boot space. Sturdy and stable enough to be used as a walking aid and to sit in and be pushed around when needed.

Bit bumpy on certain paths as it’s solid wheels but seat was comfy and she felt safe in it.

The only concern was the swivel wheels tended to turn if you hit the slightest ridge in the path, but you learn to be careful and overcome that problem.

Overall a great buy for short term/holiday/travel and temporary use.

Wanted a lightweight, folding wheelchair ...

and I got one. Really light ( well as light as a chair could be) and folds tremendously easily.
The brakes are so easy to apply as they are in the handles .
Love the colour blue and the grey wheels,, smart looking for a young chap, age 25 and was ideal around Alton Towers.

I would buy another .

The only niggle is the difficulty at a step etc, a little difficult to lift the front wheels , don't press on the handles ... We have found that it's best to pull back on the bar that is above the handle ( better pivot) while also using the foot bar ( that is a little small ), but now we have learnt this we just take a little care,it's okay however I think it might be too difficult to do with an over weightperson .

This is the chair for your tiny boot.

I'm in the same boat as the guy with the MX5. I needed a chair that would fit in a tiny two seater car boot and this is the only one. It's fine but it could be better. It's a chair for short distances over even ground because it's not terribly sturdy or comfortable and the wheels are [obviously] small. It doesn't have a belt strap either so if you need one you'll be buying one. That said it's a doddle to set-up/collapse and is reasonably light. Recommended.Read full review...

As good as expected for its weight, portability and price.

I was taken out for my first trial run today. I'd never been in a wheelchair before so can't compare but it did the job it's meant for ok. On smooth tarmac best but bumpy pavements and gravel tracks it can rattle your brains a bit. I only got nearly tipped out once when going down an unexpectedly badly made kerb ramp.
I guess we'll get used to folding and unfolding it without the nobs coming off. I haven't yet tried putting it back in the bag or into the car boot. It is quite flimsy but all in all as good as expected for its weight, portability and price.

Good value but......

This is good for travelling and easy to fold and put away. However if the person is over 12st (advertised as a lot more than this)it's hard work pushing them as the front wheels are difficult to get up and down kerbs even small ones and fall in small pot holes in pavements and with weight it's hard to manouevre Read full review...
