I'm no Baby...

I was really excited about getting this DVD as soon as it came out. I love the film 'Dirty Dancing' and couldn't wait to spend an hour working out to the music.
At first I was really put off by the two 'instructors', they are really very cheesy...sadly they don't get any better as the DVD goes on but I think that you just have to accept that it isn't going to be a serious workout - just a fun way to raise your heart rate.
They quite helpfully go through a 'syllabus' at the beginning, breaking down all the moves, although I still can't get the hang of the pony! They then use these moves throughout the DVD, showing you each dance step by step, followed by doing it to one of the songs from the film. I still haven't managed to follow any of these through to the end, but I have only had it a week.
It's not as good exercise as any of Davina's or Ministry of Sound's workouts in my opinion, but if you love Dirty Dancing and are determined enough to learn the routines then I would recommend this DVD.Read full review...

Please rate this review: According to my partner she quite enjoyed this Dvd so it must be good as it's an exercise as well as a dance.Comprising five separate dance-based exercise routines, DIRTY DANCING OFFICIAL DANCE WORK OUT teaches you to learn the moves as seen in the classic film: a dance lesson and a workout in one.

Cheesey and fun. Excellent camera work

This is great. Initially I was worried that it was too difficult but after two weeks I've as good as mastered three of the dance work outs. The teachers, Johnny and Tracy are great - really cheesey which is how it should be. Johnny opens one workout with the line, 'Hi friends, I'm so excited to be dancing with you today.' The moves are influenced by Penny's routines more so than Baby's. The production is superb, with the moves always visible - no torso and head shots. I love this dvd!!!!!

I remember watching Dirty Dancing in my teens and thinking " I want to dance like that!!!" Well now I can! Ok it takes a bit of practice but I'm getting there!

I find this dvd very enjoyable. I've got a selection of dance based fitness dvds and this is by far my favourite. I love the music in this dvd and the moves are getting easier everytime. You do need a lot of space to do some of the routines but these can made less elaborate and more compact.

All in all a fun workout though not for those with two left feet!Read full review...
