I plan on watching this yearly as a Christmas tradition.

This is the only 3D movie that I paid to see twice in the IMAX theater. Since then I've wanted to be able to have that experience at home. And now with my Playstation VR and this 3D BD I can. The movie itself is so well done. the animation allows them to have a lot of camera movement and there are some thrilling shots and some stunning shots. It's true to Dickens story and has some humor. But, it's not a movie for small kids nor is it a farcical Jim Carrey movie.Read full review...

Just an OK movie with OK 3D effects.

Bought it for the 3D which was OK but not as good as it could have been. Similar to Polar Express technology. Characters were good but the process used for animation purposes seemed to make them plastic without a lot of emotion, therefore, they seemed "off putting" to me.Read full review...

A Classic Remade

Funny man Jim Carrey stars in this remake of the classic children's tale Directed by Robert Zemeckis (The Polar Express). This latest release was originally presented in Digital 3-D and was the first Disney movie in IMAX 3-D.

The story of Scrooge is well know by all and this latest version stays true to the original plot.

Carey plays 4 roles in this film, he plays Ebenezer Scrooge as well as the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come.

Additional Cast includes: Gary Oldman, Cary Elwes, Colin Firth, Bob Hoskins, Robin Wright Penn, Ryan Ochoa, and Molly C. Quinn.

This is a good remake and would make a good addition to anyone's Disney Library

Excellent retelling of a familiar story.

This animated version of A Christmas Carol is quite close to the original version, almost too much so. I would fault the plot for not offering anything new or novel--but this is being really picky, because it's too easy to find fault with anything that is different from the original story, or fails to incorporate some wonderful and successful (in my mind) innovation. My family loves the story, and we watch each of our six or seven versions at least once every Christmas time.

The animation looked quite realistic, almost as if the animators tried too hard. Scrooge's nose was made huge, effective in making him look the miser. Many motions of the characters seemed stiff and unnatural in ways that kept saying to me that the animators were trying really, really hard to make them move like people really move. Maybe what I'm trying to say is that many efforts at realism made me conscious that they were efforts at realism; great animation would have left me unaware that it took effort. (Think how great Olympic ice skaters make their performances look like strolls in the park, but you can tell when a beginner has finished a tough move.)

Several startling scenes had me, well, startled--yes, I even shouted once or twice when I got spooked! Young children should find some of the scenes frightening (parents, be advised). I think this version did a better job than some others of illuminating Scrooge's changing heart through the course of the spirits' visits. All three spirits were well portrayed, but I do fault the Disneyesque need to show Christmas Present's corpse transform into bones and dust.

All in all, though, A Christmas Carol--this version too--reminds us in a secular way of distinctly Judeo/Christian truths, that the love of money must never trump our genuine concern for our fellow creatures (i.e., other people), that life brings tremendous joy to all, and that even the meanest, least likable, bitter, hateful curmudgeon can become whole.

Happy.

May have paid a little to much. Wrong time of the year to make purchase. Movie was at a premium. I guess that's my fault.

Great Christmas movie

It's great Christmas movie. You watch it closely every second. It looks great in 3D to fly everywhere. I really love great quality 3D effects in this movie. The only bad thing about it is that this movie is too scary in some episodes for little kids. My 4y.o. daughter closed her eyes in scary parts and she did not want to finish watching this movie. For little kids its much more fun to watch "Open season"Read full review...

Very Entertaining

I thought the movie was entertaining and very well done. The 3D effects were excellent. Despite the fact that I detest Jim Carrey, I still recommend the movie.
