THIS IS VALUE FOR MONEY AND A MUST HAVE BOX SET

FIVE STARS FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS
This boxset features all the great reptile stories.

The first story is Jon Pertwee's second story, The Silurians is an excellent piece of Doctor Who. I hear that quite a few people think the only rubbish thing about this story is its incidental music, whereas i actually think the incidental music is just right for this great and atmospheric story. It is also very vivid, especially when the silurians release the plague that starts to kill more than just a few people. You really do get the feel that this is very serious and every actor involved in the story really brings the emotion and panic up to top notch. Doctor Who rarely was as serious and panic riddled as this story is, and it still is very powerful and highly entertaining. Jon Pertwee already makes a his presence felt as the newly regenerated Doctor, and boy if this story is only his second when i first saw it, i thought cor how many more brilliant stories are to come?! ANother great scene is the last one, when the good old brig blows up the silurian base, and the doctor is horrified at this. This scene is wonderfully done, and in some ways you do feel sad for the poor old silurians.

The Second story is the Sea Devils, in many ways a sequel to the first story. The sea devils are relations of the silurians. The incidental music on this story is surprisingly electronic, but is a welcome change of tone. In fact when i first saw this story it freaked me out and that is no lie. The sea devils actually gave me nightmares, i just remember them being so damn evil looking. And Roger Delgado of course was brilliant as the Master, but this story in particular highlights his great acting. The Master is a cunning and resourceful enemy, and more than a match for the doctor which means we are sure to be in for a great battle. And the acting in this is very good also. The tension steadily increases throughout the story. Once again the doctor tries to bring about the peace, and as usual its the human race who are the most inhuman things in sight around here. This is another great story and for once a thrilling sequel!

The last in the trio is the great Warriors of the Deep. I rather feel that this story is best remembered for the moronic looking myrrka, a pantomime horse if ever there was one. But really, its no worse than many other doctor who monsters. And the silurians look very impressive, the redesign looks incredible. And the sea devils have lost their string vests and now have some dress sense. And this story more thann makes up for the shoddy design with great actinga nd several memorable moments. I like the voices of the new silurians too. And this is another story where the incidental theme is great again, really adds up the tension and menace. Really this story is good enough for me not to even say anything bad about the myrrka, the plot is actually storng and different. Using mankinds own missiles to destroy tham is a really callous motive. The death count is high in this one too, and the great line from the doctor rings out above the rest of the story " There should have been another way". If that is to say the story should have been done differently, then id have to disagree. This story has plenty going for it and makes for a great end to the trilogy of two great doctor who monsters!!!

Great colour restoration.

Great stories from the early 70's. Lots of outside location work of portsmouth harbour area. Favourites are the Pertwee stories, but Davieson OK.
