Classic Doctor Who!!!!!

Captured for arms-running on the mining planet of Androzani Minor, the Doctor and Peri are under sentence of death. Then a mysterious masked intruder comes to their aid. But is Sharaz Jek, master android creator, really their saviour? The rulers of the planet are certainly desperate for his head. Then again, he does control the only supply of Spectrox and it is this substance which men are prepared to die for...Read full review...

Best Regeneration story to date

Robert Holmes writes a top notch Doctor Who story that has you gripped from beginning to the end, you are wondering who really is the bad guy in all this, what is spectrox, who's goina save Peri (his companion), great cliffhangers & finally a sad, yet brilliant regeneration!. What more could a Doctor Who adventure offer?.

My only complaint, is a few more extra's (i.e, documentries, etc) like we got on the new beginnings box set, or maybe "The Twin Dilemma" as a double pack?. Well, that's what it needs on here. The only reason I've given it 5 stars is cuz it's such a brilliant story and probably one of the best adventures given to a departing doctor, whilst everyone is trying to shoot/kill him (no the Doctor doesn't shoot anyone,) he is trying to save a companion who's dying all in true Doctor Who style.

The Doctor is strong, powerful, caring which in the end shows why the doctor is such a loved character and suddenly you don't want Peter to leave, he values life more than anything & in this adventure he doesn't want to fail his companion Peri. You get a performance of a lifetime from Peter Davison and you are sad to see him go, but interested by the arrival of the new doctor (Colin Baker) at the end.

Brilliant Story, well acted & thought out and a thoroughly great Doctor Who romp, only disappointment is the silly magma ceature, but hey thats BBC budget for you.

Doctor Who :The Caves of Androzani

This a classic Doctor Who story that is classed amongst the best of the era. Grahame Harper who directed this story has directed some of the best stories from the new series.
The Caves of Androzani is a tense and entertaining tale of greed and politics that the Doctor inadvertantly gets drawn into at a terrible cost.
A great buy for those young fans who would like to see Doctor Who of the past. Keeping in mind that they have more recently seen Peter Davison in last years 'Time Crash' mini story with David Tennant.

the caves of androzani dvd

What can I say? The only thing I disliked with the story was that it was Peter Davison's last story, and probably his finest hour. If some of his earlier doctor who stories had been produced, scripted and cast as well as this one, then I would have enjoyed them as much as this one. A great story with a fine cast, and still brings a lump to my throat when he regenerates.

Well recommended and makes a nice addition to any collection.
