Practical, compact, hose unit.

Very good item, so easy to assemble. However would suggest that some protection be provided (Slip on sleeving) to underside of frame supports, to avoid scratching that nice paintwork, if unit is placed on to concrete. I used plumbers pipe insulation, cut to length.Read full review

You will regret buying this. Cheap, lightweight, flimsy...

What a cheap piece of crp. This wont last till the end of the summer. You will regret buying this the minute it arrives in the post. Cheap, poorly fitting plastic. Flimsily, lightweight. Its going to break in a weeks time. Don't think the Draper brand means anything at all. This is garbage. Photos show a 30 meter hose. No way it will take any longer and when this thing is filled with water the plastic is going to be sagging. I bet its going to warm so much the push fit connectors break free and the whole thing collapses under its own weight. Buy cheap, buy twice. Read full review

Not Bad For The Money

Wanted a hose-reel of this design so that I could fit it straight up to the existing mount and tap (used by the existing old Hozelock reel which had given years of service before eventually failing) without any modification to the arrangement.

This reel does the job but it is too early to say how reliable and robust it will turn out to be. It is described as holding 45 metres of hose and it does that as my hose just about fits on and it is a deal longer, probably closer to 50 metres or even 55. Typically I found some 60 metre hose-reels after ordering this one and which would have suited my circumstances a bit better.

I would recommend on the limited use so far and it is reasonably good value for the money. My only concern regarding quality is that the steel tubes push fit into the mounting holes and lock into place on plastic stubs which protrude into the holes in the tubes locking them in place. A 45 metre hose full of water is quite heavy and it remains to be seen how long these bits of plastic can take the strain under regular usage.

such a pity :(

No instructions so it was not until I had securely slotted the tubes into the holes that I realised one was slightly different (the handle), it was then an awful struggle to get it out but managed it with brute force and ignorance. Once constructed I believed I must have put the wrong tube back in as it rocks from side to side - but no. The company said it should be sturdier once hose is applied - not so rocky but still not 100% stable.
It is much smaller than I was expecting. The internal construction looks sturdy and weather resistant but the frame is the same as my old one which lasted under a year - so not sure how long this will last on the ground outside.
Would I recommend it?? only if you have a short hose, in a protected garden position and don't mind a wobble

Good hose reel but instructions could be improved

Putting this together was fairly straightforward if you’re used to flat pack type things. However the pictures were not clear enough to show how to put the handles on and I didn’t put it through both bits and ended up having a real problem trying to take the handle off so I could put it through both ways. Draper hose reel.

Bought this for a replacement it went together easy and i fitted a new 30m 1/2 inch hose BUT like my old reel the same problem that when you connect the hose into the middle of the reel and start to wind it on the hose flattens and gives you very poor water flow, if you put a spray fitting on the end of the hose and then fill the hose with water and leave it under pressure with spray fitting closed this helps and then wind the hose onto the reel, otherwise reel seems ok.Read full review

Draper Hose Reel

I found the hose reel to be flimsy when assembled and appeared to be susceptible to the weight of the hose when it has been used and still retains the water. The second problem I have encountered is that when assembled and hung on the wall you need to be left handed to wind the hose onto the reel. Having spent considerable time on the assembly, dismantling and re-assembly I have concluded that there is no way to have the winding handle on the right hand side. Consequently, if you have a problem with your left arm I suggest you buy a different hose reel.

Best regards

Arthur

Decent item, does the job and easy to assemble. With the longer hose pipes as you’re reeling it back in it can get stuck.

Best yet

We have horses, two vehicles and a dry sandy garden all of which need water to maintain. Buckets and watering cans are sapping our energy and the work builds up. This reel is magic bringing water to where it is needed.
We have super high mains pressure great for free power hosing. This reel is light, strong, well designed and has solved our problems just have to adjust for right hand use!

Draper Hose Reel

Needs a bit of fiddling to assemble but once done is smooth and makes rolling up your hose very easy. Much better than the one I replaced.
