Hearts Beating As One

This book is one of a series written by Diana Gabaldon, with the main characters Claire and Jamie Fraser - he from the 17th Century, she from the 19th Century. Their story starts in a book called Outlander (or Cross Stitch), and continues, in the series. In this book, Drums of Autumn, the Frasers have moved to South Carolina, where they are granted land, and build their homestead - with other exiled Highlanders joining them.

They are starting their new lives, when their daughter (who Claire returned to the 19th C to give birth to) begins her quest to find them. She goes from Boston to Scotland, steps through the Standing Stones as her Mother has done, and finds herself in the 17th C too.

Eventually she reaches her parents, and her 19th C boyfriend realises what she's done, and follows her.

Diana weaves a wonderful story, with believable characters, both good, bad and evil, which draws you in. I am reading these books for the second time, and enjoying them just as much as the first time around

An addictive series

It's a bit cheesy at times but the story is mostly well written and since I'm on the fourth book that says it all!

Exciting, riveting battles, prisons, high seas travel and love story ....

Diana Gabaldon must be one of the most prolific writers of the last century!
Her books are around the thousand page mark and absolutely wonderful.
Must reads!
