Retro and fun but not built as well as they were.
I had one of these many, many years ago so its nice to see they are still available - quite retro, no batteries. In the intervening years they have to my memory become more flimsy and sometimes the letter dial doesn't quite line up and when you press the trigger there is a disconcerting crunching noise and or it doesn't advance the tape. This can lead to quite a few mistakes and tape wastage. Also you cannot see the letter you just embossed so with long words you need a good memory for what you just typed in.
Its best to advance it one space at the beginning and end of a word.
Curiously I found it worked best when held tilted to one side by 45 degrees or so - stopped the crunching.
So still good, build quality declined somewhat, limited type but no electronics to go wrong.Read full review...

Easy to use and set up.
Although the product is very easy to use and set up the prints are only O.K. The tape does not remain stuck in position for more than a couple of weeks. The prints are legible but not as good as i hoped. The machine is O.K. probably worth 3 1/2 stars. One thing does impress is the number of coloured tapes you can obtain and when they do stick, they look great. To sum up then, a decent product could be better i feel, or is it just me expecting too much.Read full review...

Dymo review.
Bought this item recently. Had a dymo some years back and it was simple and reliable then. This item doesnt feel that well made.
It has a double wheel arrangement which aligns the trimmer and the number/letter wheel. This design is unexplained and the instructions to set the thing up are useless!
Its not rocket science by any means, but the wheel alignment issue can cause problems with it printing cleanly and reliably.
Having said this, the basic useage and installation of the tape is easy enough. Ive already experienced a few issues with the tape not loading properly, and curling back into the body of the machine. Once i worked out what was going on i can deal with it. I paid just under £20 for mine and its not well made for that money. The feel of a totally mechanical machine these days is so refreshing, not needing batteries or a usb of some sort. Just get it going and it will keep going. The letters themselves look better on dark coloured tape rather than light coloured as the contrast isnt clear enough as the letters are essentially white, so on a pale background dont stand out enough for me. Black, red or dark green are probably better.

Brilliant , fun and easy to use
Really good little piece of equipment to have ! Easy to use and fun. Only reason haven’t given 5 stars is sometimes the prints don’t come out well if you don’t press hard enough so can take a little getting used to. otherwise great :DRead full review...

Just the ticket
This is so easy to use. I brought a less expensive label printer at first which was very difficult to turn letter dial then squeeze!!!! It was rubbish. I then purchased this model, what a difference!!!! So easy to use, and prints so clearly. My advice spend this bit extra, it truly is worth it.Read full review...

Cool, all-time classic product!
The original and in my opinion best. In a world where pretty much everything is computerised or electronic it is refreshing to see some perfectly functional analogue products still being manufactured and sold. The simplicity is its charm, the Dymo is extremely easy to use the only flaw with it is that I am finding the indent it is supposed to make at the end of your label is no longer being made, not a problem really, it is just to make it easier to peel off. So long as you have some nails and be careful you can get by fine. Another cool thing is that the labels look real old-school, so if you like the vintage look you will love it.Read full review...

Classic, well designed functional label maker
Classic Dymo tape lable embosser. Still stands out head and shoulders above later paper / ink developments which fade and are water sensitive. It doesn't need an internal motor, in doesn't need an auto cutter - let the user drive the product! Thanks Dymo for keeping on keeping on!Read full review...

Easy printer
For its price this is a good product. Years ago I had a more solid and easier to use printer from Dymo but I imagine that this would now be more expensive. I have wasted some tape by doubling letters when I meant to leave a space, but I am getting used to it now.Read full review...

Awful product
I brought the Dymo as its a brand name but you have to press the trigger so hard for it to work its really uncomfortable. Total waste of money. I brought a brother electric one three times the price but well worth it.Read full review...
